Default Pot Metal Trim Stud Repair

Before I go searching for a way fix to this problem, I thought I would ask here first. No sense re-inventing the wheel. It seems that most every piece of pot metal trim on GM cars has at least one of the pins broken off or corroded badly.
Since I'm obviously not the first person to have this issue, what is everyone else doing ? I can keep looking for NOS or good used pieces (good luck) or figure out a way to repair what I have. Any thoughts, ideas, or solutions would be welcome.
JK
