Dennis Buds in Trufant has several old Pontiac's may be a good start for you, I don't have their number off hand, my truck is out for some service work when I get it back I need to pick up some parts not sure when I go but will let you know if they have anything.

zephyrracer & marxjunk,

Thanks for the tips. I'll call Buds and do some CL hunting. It's been hard trying to find a solid shell. They don't seem to out there any more. Where are they when you want them.

Thanks, Dennis

Hah - thought I recognized that invoice, Dennis. That's John's old car. VERY unique option list to say the least.

Good luck with your hunt . . .

Thanks Lloyd. It is a pretty neat piece. I've resigned myself to wait for a clean cheap 4-door sedan to fall in my lap, so I've quit actively looking. The more I look at the car, it really isn't as bad as I initially thought, so I may just leave it alone and enjoy it as it sits. Dan and I are building a new motor (455 2-bbl) for it as the original 350 is clacking pretty loudly now.

Take care! Dennis

A very unique Pontiac - that's for sure. I'm glad someone such as yourself ended up with it.
When it first arrived in Houston it ended up at my shop for a bit. I was mostly impressed with what sun-bake can do with a 40 year-old padded dash!

455 2V eh? Y'all have any flow tricks for that large-bore 2GV?

Oughta be one helluva a tire scorcher in any case!

Lloyd,

It's nothing special, just an old .040 over 455 short block in good shape with '70 #15 heads (small valve 455) with the rocker studs pinned and new valves & springs, a 2801 summit cam & lifters, and dual exhuast through the stock logs. With the 3.23 Saf-t-Trak and M-20 Muncie, it should be fun. Going to run the 2-bbl air cleaner with a taller filter to lift the lid a 1/2" for beter breathing. It's a 4500 rpm motor max with the stock cast bottom end.

I have a '71 455 2-bbl intake and carb so we'll see how that runs. I will eventually try a Q-jet and iron intake to compare the performance difference, but keeping it stealthy looking for the time being.

Dennis,
Too bad this one isn't a post sedan, it's got the right color code. I'm still looking for you.

Thanks John. That is a sweet looking LeMans Sport in Atoll Blue with a white top. I know there has to be a solid 4-dr sedan with my name on it for the right price somewhere, and hopefully in Atoll Blue too!

Dennis,
I haven't seen a 4-door sedan on Houston Craigslist in several years. From the pics, this one looks pretty rough with a hefty asking price. I'm still looking for a 1970 in Atoll blue.

Thanks John,
I appreciate you keeping your eyes peeled for a donor car. Either I'm way behind the times, but I can't believe what people think their old cars are worth. I wouldn't give $500 for that LeMans (unless it was a 455 car). Thanks for sending the CL ad. I do like seeing and reading those.

The weather is finally turning around up here to be able to get the fun cars out. We are waiting in line at the machine shop to finish the 455 short block to replace the 350 in the LeMans. I hope by mid-summer it will be driveable.

Take care, Dennis

Currently on Los Angeles craigslist is a 4 door with factory 3-speed manual trans for$1,500. I didn't notice if it was a post or not, but seems like a pretty unusual car. GLWS

Mr. G, Thanks for looking. I have committed to not re-bodying the car now and just working with what I have. I may just modify repro 2-dr quarters or find someting closer to home to cut and patch.

Hey John,

Thanks for the CL listing. Hmmm, not too far away either. A little update, I now have a complete front clip in excellent condition (in nice Baja gold), so if that elusive solid 4-dr sedan body shell ever appears, it will be because you found it. I appreciate you keeping your eye out for me.

Dennis
