On a side note if you ever change your exhaust use an x pipe rather that an h pipe. Test have proven they work better. I saw a dyno test on x vs h vs none at all. |

Summit got theirs back and I should have a set of the OEM reproductions at the office when I get back in town from this trade show.

OEM style braces installed. I simply took the correct nuts off of the rear upper/lower control arms, slipped the braces over the bolts and reinstalled the nuts. Retightened the nuts with the suspension loaded.

Don't think Pontiac's main concern was the frame as much as the bowed quarter panels that resulted from the flexing. Wasn't good advertising for perspective new customers.
Just installed a beautiful set from TechStar Massive last weekend that a friend purchased off ebay for $122.11 including freight and shipping. Welding was better and they offer a choice of colors (why?). Had a little problem with the bracket angles getting them in place, but the friends car already had some bow in the quarters so frame was probably tweaked a little. His car was originally a four speed car and had the original supports, but the mounting holes were oval'd out and there was cracking around the support's bolt holes. Kind of shows that there was a lot of stress going on over the years to do that damage to the supports. I set the brackets to a neutral load. In hindsight, looks like I should have the bracket pulling the ends together a little to be the most effective.

Dug the friend's braces out of the scrap pile for a pic. They show quite a bit of abuse.

Can someone please re post the pic that B Man put up of the braces.
I can't see it because it was a Photobucket pic, and I can't find any other pics of those braces on this forum. If anyone has a solution to this, that would be appreciated also, as there are a lot of Photobucket' pics that I cannot view. Thanks |

I have all the UMI braces. I was really bummed because I wanted to install the rear shock brace but I didnt do it while the boy was off the frame and it wouldnt go in once it was back on. I havent installed the control arm braces yet but I have ripped the rear crossmember out of a 64 Lemans with nothing more than a stock rebuilt 66 YS code 389 and an M20. I even bought the brace that goes between the front frame rails and the bumpsteer kit. So far I have been very impressed with UMI quality and even more impressed with their customer service.

I have to replace the brace on the driver's side of my 66 when I get it up in the air to do the Auburn Limited Slip install. I also have a set if OEM braces for back there. They aren't cheap in the catalogs, OEM or after market, so I'm going with what I have on hand now.
