Cool Kudos to Ross Chastain going WOT alomg the Wall

This is a decent summary of the last lap. Ross needed to pass a few cars to qualify for next week's Championship run. So he went outside and WOT for an over-achieve.

I think the car RH side faired rather well.

I watched live Sunday as well.

It was awesome, the announcers were as suprised as any one! Best moment in a Nascar race in a long time!

That was an insane move. Totally looked like it was sped up in one of the shots. I can't remember the speed they said he was carrying through the corner but it was nearly double what the other cars were doing.

I saw that he broke the all-time track record, 18.8 secs vs old record of 18.9.

I also saw his last lap speed was 100.xxx mph, next fastest was Larson at 94.xxx mph!

Telemetry data shows he was 70 m.p.h faster in that corner. The only driver using 5th gear on the last lap.

For the whole race, driver's were only using 3rd and 4th gear. Why? You couldn't turn the corner without contacting the wall.

Ross said he had done that maneuver on a racing simulator and just decided to try it. Without that move, he doesn't make the final 4.

It worked out.

Corey LeJoy tried it on the sim,he ran the exact lap time that Ross did!He said he would bet his house that Ross had done the sim MANY times and just kept it in his back pocket for just the EXACT time and exact place he might need it.Many drivers have said they dont have the balls to even try it.Tom

Yup I race on video games all the time and use that move in the games, I tried it racing go carts using a solid line of carts on the outside in a corner and it worked awesome . (People were PISSED ) I’ve been waiting for someone to try it on a real race track for years and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Just goes to show you how week racing simulators actually transfer over to real life these days .

Ross was found to have an illegal seat during post race inspection, but the appeal was successful because it was needed for his massive balls.

Suppose, the wall-ride becomes a common technique in racing.
Cars, drivers, tracks, maybe some rules will be able to adjust for the wall-ride around turns as a standard.

Could bring the spectator sport up, and delay the down-spiral.

I expect they will change something in the new wheel design to prevent the outward hub from acting as a skate blade along the wall.

Yup, some innovation like horizontal wheels on the right side of the car so everyone can just ride the wall as if it's always been done.

Maybe they’ll mount a wheel o the pass side door mounted horizontally. feel
Like that’s as gimmicky as electric hellcats w speakers for exhaust.

Btw I hate mask car after its woke BS it pulled. Gotta think Earnhardt sr. would hated that crap!

I’m all for black and other minority drivers etc always was I want to see people there for talent not color or gender or any of that crap, (what was that Richard Pryor movie). Shouldn’t have given that dude a hard time like they did but the woke **** nascar has pulled went too far . I wanna see fair merit based racing!!!

As for wheels on the wall, i would guess a skid plate rull for awhile, then the horozontal wall-wheels for the uppety class racing.
