The numbers on the front of the heads tells me they are 72 cc D-ports….i know they came from Butler....could they have CNC´d the Chambers to make them larger?

The 87cc head has casting number 6156

Aluminum's superior heat rejection characteristics are a big factor. Also at play is these heads usually have a more modern high swirl/high quench chamber design which promotes much more efficient combustion.

According to the website picture linked for the end of the head if it has d-port exhaust it has the wording "D-PORT" under the PERFORMER.

The D-215-94 is the emissions code number. Under those EC numbers is the 4-digit number for either a 72cc chamber or a 87cc chamber.

I ran EDL PERF RPM Round Ports on my 350 with flat top pistons. The CR was approximately 10.5:1.

My Current build is a 496 will be running the same 72ccc E-heads... however the pistons have a 40cc's dish and sit .020 in the hole. The 5 layer cometic gaskets are in the .050 range (I forget exact thickness) and CR will be in the 8.75:1 ball park. I plan on running 10-15lbs boost.

The piston tops, combustion chambers and exhaust ports are all ceramic coated as well....

Good luck with your project.

SPEED SAFE, NICK
