Question Column Mounted Tach.?

I would like to install a tach. in my 67' GTO just to keep an eye on my RPM's. Not a racer so a 6,000 or 8,000 RPM tach. is probably what I need. I would like to mount it on my steering column in front of the dash guages. I have a HEI distributor so I need one that works with that. What is a good brand, model of tach., that would fit on my car and give good results? Where's the best place to buy one?

An Autometer Sport Comp in about the 3" is small enough to not be as visible as the monster 5". You can use two large radiator clamps to secure it's bracket to the column.

Factory Chrome Tach mounted using a pair of (4" or 5") stainless hose clamps and some felt.

because it is a 67 GTO.

Or a rubber strip cut from an innertube.

yea, the rubber strip will help stabilize the mount & not be paint scratchin.
