Question What Size Tire For 67' GTO?

I've spent a couple hours searching old posts about the size tire I need but am still a bit uncertain what size to buy. I currently have Rally 1"s, 14 inch, with 20 yr. old Goodyear 215x70x14 tires. I want some larger, 15 in., wheels & a bit more rubber "on the ground". I can get a set of Rally 2's, 15x7 in., without tires. My GTO is a convertible with stock suspension. I'm going to purchase new tires, probably Goodyear or Goodrich (any suggestions?) I don't want any rubbing/scrapeing with the new tires. What would be the best tire size to mount on these wheels? Several posts here say 235x60x15 for the front & 255x60x15 for the rear. I'm afraid this size might be a bit too wide and I'll encounter interference/rubbing problems. Any info. you can provide will be appreciated.

Default WYTNYT, Can't Get Thread To Open.

WYTNYT, Thanks for the response & info. Only problem is that when I click on the thread you provided I get: "Sorry, no matches". Is there any other thread I can get info. about the correct tire size for my 67' GTO? Thanx.

A 215/65 15 and 235/60 15 are real close to the same height as the 215/70 14 (26"). a 255/60 would be 1" taller if you wanted to go with a bigger tire on the rear. the 215/65 is pretty much the same size widthwise also as the 215/70 14. there is also 245/60 15 in between, I had those on the back of my 66 with some coke bottle daisy wheels.

I would go with 215-65-15 on the front, 235 or 245-60-15 on the rear. 255's would really look pinched on a 7 inch wheel.
Right now I have 235-60-15 BFG TA radials on the front of my 67 LeMans, they scrape sometimes if I hit a bump while the wheel is turned.

I am a fan of big meats out back and I can fit 275/60r15 on 15x7's and they are quite snug but just fit, tucked right under the fenders on my 67 gto. If you do this, you'll have to roll the fender lip under and carefully cut back the stainless wheelwell trim so the fenders won't cut up the tires. Make sure you have the earlier rear end... 68 and later rears were 1/2 inch wider on each side and when fitting massive meats it makes a a difference!

My fronts are 215/65r15

I'm running a 275/60-15 on the back of my '67 with 8" Weld wheels with a 5.5" backspace. No clearance issues whatsoever. Didn't trim or massage anything. Have also ran 265/50-15 with zero problems.

My '67 4 dr is running 7" Rally 2s with a 265/50-15 - Zero issues whatsoever.

I have this exact tire combo you mention. My front wheels are 15X7, the rears 15X8. I am running Firestone Indy 500's. It is the set in the pics below...
