Default 1969 Firebird parking brake release rod

Where is an easy source to obtain the pull rod without having to buy complete parking brake assembly?

I was thinking of fabrication of one but I don't have good pictures to make
an attempt.

Are you referring to the rod that has the pull grip on the end of it? If so I'm not aware of anyone selling just that. Bear in mind if you decide to make one out of wire stock that most of that stuff is annealed to make it bendable but for this application you'd need the opposite, almost spring steel so it doesn't deform with use.

I may still have one pulled from a 69 bird many years ago, let me check. I was keeping it as a spare, but sold the car a couple of years ago.

I bought a reproduction and think I had to use the original to clear. I’ll check my stash regardless

Sorry I could not find the spare parking brake pedal assembly I used to have. Good luck finding one.

Default Yes, the release rod

I can't remember how it came to be that I removed it. For many years I reached down and released the parking brake with my finger. It took only a few times to remember to keep my foot on the pedal to keep the pedal from slamming into my knuckles when disengaging the parking brake.

It sure would be nice to have it back to normal.

Thank you for offering and taking time to look around your spare parts for me.

As usual, there are great people in this forum always lending a helping hand.

Call Camaro Specialties, (716) 652-7086. They may have what you need.

Have you already tried calling Frank's Pontiac Parts? https://www.frankspontiacparts.com/u...irdtransam.htm

Here's a fella on ebay with full assemblies at $25 or make offer - he says one may be from a 69: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22355552396...sAAOSwFPpdB-8j
