Default Speedmaster cylinder heads no spring locators

My Speedmaster heads only come with shims between spring and cylinder head. No spring locators.
Is this normal on assembled heads? Edelbrock rpm aswell?
Average install height on the springs was 1.780. These springs are supposed to have 130 lbs pressure @ 1.800 install height.
Would it be a good idea to run it tighter, like they came from Speedmaster, as the springs will soften after some use?
Is it okey to run without spring locators?

Locators are only needed on aluminum heads if the ID of the inner spring is too far away from the OD of the bottom step that is under the valve guide.

Well the stock Pontiac valve guide OD is .685”, and the stock inner valve spring ID is .775” .
That makes for .090” overall or a radius of .045”.

That amount of clearance is what Sounds good to me to shoot for in terms of a maximum without the usage of a spring cup, but then again are spring cups made for Beehive / conical springs?

Mine came the same but at 1.825 install hieght. I bought spring locators from comp and set them at 1.8 like they are suppose to be. so far so good.

Manley 42573 seem to be a good fit for these heads and springs.
