Default Not Mine - Falcon Sprint

A woman drives this to the local rec center quite often and it always makes me smile. I'm fond of 60s Fords and this Sprint is very cool IMO and has a great interior.

Those were neat little cars and I liked certain year models of them.
But I don't know which years .... newer than this one ... I think

I'm pretty sure that is a 1965 Falcon Sprint. All Sprints came with V8s.

My dad was fond of Fords and Pontiacs. He opened his own garage in the early 1970s and had a dealer's license. When I got my driver's license in 1973, the first car I drove on a regular basis was a 1963 Sprint that he bought for resale. It originally came with a 260 V8 and a 3-spd manual, but I'm pretty sure somebody swapped in a later model 289. It was a blast to drive, but it didn't handle very well. I drove it for about three months before dad sold it to a customer. I didn't mind too much. The 1973 Arab Oil Embargo happened in late 1973, and musclecars were selling dirt cheap. He replaced it with a 1964 Galaxie 500 XL with a 390 automatic. I drove that for about six months before dad decided to sell it. By that time, I had saved enough money that I bought my next car and didn't run it through the dealership. It was a 1968 Torino GT convertible with a 390 4-spd. It was dark green with black top and interior. It was a blast to drive.

A friend's dad owned a green 1971 Formula 400. I thought it was ugly, but I was hooked on Firebirds when he let me drive it. With the exception of a 1964 Buick Riviera I bought, I switched over to Pontiac by the time I graduated college.

Nostalgic rambling...

My dad had a 61 or 62 Fairlane beater when I was a kid. I was around 14 when he asked if I wanted to try and fix his transmission. I liked to take things apart so agreed to try. He pulled it out and I found a broken reverse idler gear. Easy fix, hooked me on working on cars.

I've shared stories of my 66 Fairlane GT and 63 Falcon on here before... but it all adds up to me liking these cars... and it reminds me of my dad's encouragement and support.

My wife would like that. What she really wants is a 68 Dart convertible though...go figure.

I would go for A 65-66 Dart GT, 273 with manual, and white interior. I was looking for that when i came across my '67 Lemans Sprint, 230 cu.in and 3 speed manual parchment deluxe interior. Was impressed how it ran Bought that instead. The rest is history.

Maybe the ones I liked were actually Older than the topic car .
Best friends older brother had a convertible with V8 4spd when I was early teens.
Black , red interior , black top.

I thought it looked pretty cool and to be so small with a V8 was sort of like a V8 Vega conversion type thing going on with it.

The red convertible is a '64. '65 grille was slightly better looking.
I've been accused of being a "Ford man", having had 20 FoMoCo vehicles. Falcons were '60, '61, '62, '63, '63 1/2, two '64s, and a '67. Plus a '63 Comet. Only the '60 did I put a Pontiac V8 into.
I've hoped to come across a rare Dagenham 4-speed that bolts to the six cylinder's bellhousing, but no such luck yet.

my cousin had a red 63 Falcon Sprint 260 4 speed.
I remember it having an underdash 45 record changer.
Story was my cousin went to the Ford dealer and said
"I want one just like that but I want it in red". He said salesman
looked at him pretty funny and said that one was red....
He drove that one home. Salesman asked about the mistake on color
and cousin told him he was color blind. So then the salesman asked if he couldnt
tell colors why did he have to have red? "because the girls like it"
First girl he snagged with that bright red convertible became his bride.
They are still married today.

Always liked early ‘60’s Falcons, especially rancheros or 2dr. wagons.
