Default 68 Firebird ID

I bought a 68 Firebird this year, and I would like to know if there is anyway to find out if it was a 350 or 400 car. I know the Vin and Cowl tag only ID's a V8 OR V6. Can I send away for info on it? Thanks in advance...Todd

Pontiac Historical Services: http://www.phs-online.com/
They will send you the billing history which will show the options.

PS It's V8 and L6. Back then Pontiac 6 cylinders were inline.

Todd, you've been a member here for 8 years and you don't know what PHS is?

Shame on you!

I know this post was some time ago, but I thought I would update it.

I received the PHS report about my car.
Shortly after that, I found the build sheet under the passenger seat.

It is a 400 HO 4 Speed car.
Vert Green
It came with a 3.55 rear.
No AC
Standard interior Trim ( Black )
Rally guages
Manual Brakes
Manual Steering

They made slightly over 1200 of these with a 4 speed

There is a couple other small odds and ends as well but these are the major options that define my car.

Truman Fields owned my car from 1975 to 2012, is has been and is a race car for the entire time, in fact it won the 1983 and 1984 IHRA world championship and he was the 1984 stock Car Craft Driver of the year.
I race it as an NHRA D and C stocker with the Ram Air 2 engine combo in NHRA division 1.
One day when Im done running Stock, I'll most likely restore the car back to the original configuration. Being an HO car I think it's worth doing. Hope everybody has a great Sunday.

NICE!

I'd restore it back to it's 1983/84 IHRA trim - lettered and stickered up. It's 1 of 1 in that trim, far better than 1 of 1200 in my mind and much more interesting.

Right now the car is lettered up as a tribute to when Truman won the 73 US Nationals. They did a Story on me

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=236959

The problem is when he won the championships the car was Red. Now it's green, so repainting at this point is not an option. I'm more of an Nhra racer anyway, so the way it is now sort of fits what I'm doing.
