Default 1970 Grand Prix SJ

Hi

I am looking at a 1970 Grand Prix SJ 455 HO. This may sound stupid but I can't get the hood open. I found the rod under the front bumper but the safety latch won't release. What is the trick. I really want to see this engine.

Thanks

Phil

Slightly push down while pulling the release rod.

Found out they put the hood on without bolting the hinges . It is free to slide around. Does it have to be centered some way. I don't want pry on it.

pull down on the rod to release the hood from the primary latch.

release the rod.

push down on the hood just enough to take tension off the secondary latch. (have your palm on the out side of the hood and your fingers curled under it, so you can pull up)

with the hood still pushed down slightly, to release the tension, pull the rod down again and then pull up on the hood.

if the hood is loose you might have to move it around to release it from the secondary latch. might even need a second person.
