I'm trying to figure out all the last details on my '72 Formula 455 engine swap, and have another question. Was the wild looking 455 HO decal on the air cleaner lid a factory item on a '72 Formula 455? Most pics I see of well-done 455 HO Judges and GTO's have this decal, but I can't recall seeing one on a Formula. IF my air cleaner lid should indeed have this decal, where can I find one? The PY catalog doesn't show it.
Thanks in advance, Lloyd '72 Formula 400 - soon to be a 455HO, TH400, A/C, etc.; Lucerne Blue with Medium Blue Interior Restoring a '72 GTO 455HO, TH400, A/C, etc.; Sundance Orange with Parchment buckets

To my knowledge that decal is an aftermarket item. I have never seen a concours restored car with it.

Dennis:
Well, I sort of thought the same thing. However, if you'll notice the pics of Dan Jensen's 455HO '71 T37 on the inside cover of the latest HPP, he has that decal on his air cleaner. I would have thought that being the resto guru he is, he wouldn't have the decal on his car unless it was OE??? Anyone else? Lloyd,
Dennis's statement prob comes from fact the 455HO decal was not used on '71-72 T/A aircleaner lids. The 455HO decal was indeed used on all '71 455HO RA aircleaners & non RA 455HO aircleaner lids (like my T-37 & GT-37). Not real sure of it's use on '72 Formulas, as have run across a few '72 cars that had dual heatriser Formula RA aircleaner, but only had black lids (they could have been swapped, though). As RA was required with the 455HO for '72, don't see any problem in you adding this decal.

Roger:
I really don't care too much for the decal anyway. I suppose that until I see good documentation to the contrary, I'll NOT install one on my air cleaner top.
