Wait "seriously bracket race". Pontiacs can bracket race as goos as anyone. Did not one of us just win crazy dollars in a Million Dollar Race ? David Beady won 40,000$ in a bracket race in Vegas this year.
All they have to be is reliable and make power to run the class.
Sure, its a bit easier to win bracket racing if you are in the faster of the 2 cars.
Even Top Sportsman is a high end bracket race.
1200 HP in a good light car will let you go rounds if you are a good racer. Just made a deal on heads that made 1200+ HP and they are just E heads done by folks that know what they are doing. Nothing exotic at all. Engine was not even maxed out on the induction side.
I wont be trying to make that kind of power. Pump gas guy. Bet I could make 800HP with a big flat tappet, easy.
Curts fancy new RM BBC, 1200 HP. Am I missing something ?
Runs Top Sportsman right ?

Gosh you are so wrong a consostant car and a good driver is how you win any type of Bracket racing! It's just fun going fast! If you do need to qualify for a race a quicker car helps but if you can't win a race/go rounds you better step up you driving (light cutting/top end racing).

Pontiac engines are good as long as you don't go crazy and try to exceed 3000 hp. Just gotta be reasonable

Needing parts in restricted amount of time is the reason he gave for switching.

How many 1200hp na Pontiac combos even exist? Maybe a dozen? But one can make a call and get a bbc one delivered to your doorstep. I suspect though not a big enough demand for a Pontiac builder to keep one or two in stock let alone blocks it seems.

I would like to know how many 1000+ HP Ponchos are out there that drive their car to and from the lanes and make more than 100 runs a year?? I'm guessing not too many.

Can't blame curt one bit, the super classes are getting faster every year and it's much better to have the race in front of you.
