This weekend I installed the Pypes American Thunder system that I purchased from PY on ebay. The sound is insanely cool, my 455 w/RA IV cam now sounds like a prostock. My old system system was kinda wimpy. There is a big differance in high gear, I was a few miles an hour from tripping my rev limiter in a 40 mph zone.

It is pypes v-force which is the same as flowmaster 40. The sound at lower rpm is intimidating. It is probably a 12 second car, but it now has the sound of a ten second car.

Just for the record...It is U.S. Thunder FlowMaster owns the trademark rights to American Thunder.

btw; You didn't mention what year you had and what modifications you needed to make to install the system.

My GTO is a '67. There was not any real problems with fitment, except for the Hotchkis braces I have in the back, on the right side I had to install the muffler with a twist because the bolt for the brace interfered. I have hooker super comps. on the car and the Pypes fit up to them without problem. The lowest part of the exhaust is the passenger header which hangs lower than the driver's side. I put on chrome tips from PY this week and they look real nice. I did not use the short downturn pipes in the back of the system, I just put the tips directly on.

Prostock is a great sound.
It always puts a sad look on the faces of those guys with stock Mufflers and cams when you pull into the car show. Take it from me

The car got a bit quieter with the chrome tips installed, both inside and out. I did not expect that.
