How about I throw in a pre build pic of the two of us studying Butler's rubber main seal install?

Took the day off yesterday and we stabbed the motor. I couldn't sleep tonight so I got up at 4 to put the heads on; got all my bolts prepped, NOS head gaskets Copper Coated, all layed out and started to put the bolts in. Did you know that 326 heads use a special lower center bolt? So I'm in panic mode here with heads laying on the gaskets and I can't torque them down. Running through my head is to call Gary at 4:30AM, of course I wouldn't do that to him, and then the light went off! I remembered having and saving some really weird looking head bolts thirty years ago; I got lucky, not only did I find them but they were those special bolts.

That looks like the same center head bolt that the '66 389 uses. I think it has something to do with that California A.I.R. passage in the head? Can't remember but somebody knows.
It does look good!

Greg, it's about half an inch longer. No telling what I got them off of but they certainly worked for my problem. I thought maybe the closed chamber heads were just cast different in that center area.

That 326 ought to be a great starter engine for that young man.

Awesome to see a young 'un building his first car. That's how it was done when I was a kid. Most kids today want to play video games.

Good luck. I'm subscribed.

OK you know how it's REALLY hot outside and climbing uder cars in a salvage right now for a few hours to get parts is over the top in heat? So I have this idea to put a salvage car in the middle of a pool while you strip it; Gary doesn't think much of that, but I think it will work.

Far better than spending time on your Corvette.

That's cool - a tripower on a 326!

The C pillars/sail panels have no Custom badges, so a plain Ventura it is. The car overall is in good shape, no rustbucket. Good Luck!!
