It's not the problem with USPS.
It's when you place an order that you chose UPS/FEDEX to deliver, you get an e-mail that says will be delivered in X days.
You check the tracking number a few days later and find that the package tracking number was changed to an USPS tracking number.
Now the delivery date has changed to a later date for the USPS delivery.

Knowing the shipping industry very well I would say you are very lucky. Post office has improved over the past few years but to say that they are on time with delivery 0 late for 3000 is a huge stretch. Bottom line Ames does a good job closing orders its up to where you live on how fast you get your package. Doug

I live up on a mountain that gets fedex at the end of the day ... I HATE it when I see the web-tracking say "delivered on porch" .... when the reality is the guy didn't want to drive up the mountain at the end of his shift so he waited till the next day when he had more deliveries.

I get my parts from Ames in typically 2 days ... I'm about 4 hours away.

Best I've ever seen for any kind of delivery is McMaster-Carr ... order at 3pm monday, get it on Tuesday.

That the problem with fedex ground. They are not fedex employees they are sub contractors. So if you know if you wait a day or two and can make three delivery on those out of way stop that what you do. Save time and gas. No accountability by fed ex just the opposite of ups which driver have to show every non delivery and a reason why. It just the way it is . Much cheaper for fedex no worker comp no insurance no accountability of drivers.

I have to give McMaster Carr Supply a big pat on the back. I placed an online order one day and UPS delivered it the next morning. !! We're both in Ohio and I know that makes a difference.. And their stock of "stuff" is amazing

Yep, if they were a public company I'd buy stock in a second ... course soon as they went public they'd probably go to crap :)

Since Ames has received the PY stock, and It was a LOT. Just the gas tanks Filled the whole entry work area stacked 8 ft tall. Since that time, the order to ship time for online orders has come way down, usually next day ship. I am in zone 1 ( for them) and I always get it second day, end of day. The know right away if they have it in stock, and when new ones are coming in. I have even got a reminder call from the nice woman at the front when a part I was looking for in the past was back in stock, so I had a shot at getting them. They have a ship commitment with UPS, while not the cheapest, I have never had a mess up, or a flattened box. Kudos for them stepping up the service. I see 10-12 people on or near their cube phone at any one time when Im there.. I notice in shipping that parts going east to west in the US are slower than west to east ( way less volume Im sure is part of it)

I don't ship 3000 packages a year, but I almost always use USPS for smaller shipments. Either with the flat rate boxes or if you set up an account on the usps website you will get 30-40% off when you do the click & ship. On my larger shipments my choice is Fed ex ground. They have been very reliable & reasonable. My shipments from ames usually get to me here in ohio about 3 or days.

Default USPS Shipping

Yes, I also ship everyday with my business and USPS is faster and cheaper for smaller stuff. I've asked Ames couple of times if they can ship USPS, all I get is an additut from the salesperson. With USPS I can receive my parts in two days to California, instead I get it in four days with UPS and it's more expensive. Maybe the can read this thread and try USPS for a change.

For small stuff and flat rate box you can't beat USPS priority they really have improved. But as a business that send limited small that fit flat rate criteriors UPS is by far the better option. Also there handleing by no mean perfect is a lot better than USPS Doug

If you folks think Ames, or anyone else, is slow try SMS of Oregon!

Re USPS I won the bid on an ebay intake last Saturday, paid for it Sunday, they dropped it off at the PO Tuesday morning, and it was delivered this morning. It came from Portland. OR to SE Texas,

Legendary is getting the slowest in the industry award from me. This is a kit purchased through Ames, produced by Legendary. Over 2 months and counting for a Trans Am front and rear seat kit is getting kinda ridiculous...

I didn't try any of the other vendors. Never had an issue with any Ames transaction until now. I inquired about an ETA first thing this morning, and was promised a return call with an update. I have not received that call yet..

I just received a call back from one of your customer service representatives. I was told that they should ship this set 6/6/16. Hope the better quality is worth the 10 week lead time. Thanks.
