Wow, that's amazingly well-preserved. Not sure I've ever seen one so "original", even if it's been painted.

That “clone” black ragtop must either have a chopped up GTO hood or some king of fiberglass deal on the regular LeMans hood? The GTO hood can’t go on the regular LeMans front end.

67 Firebird in NM at NR $1900. Looks like a stick car without a transmission. Body looks like minimal rust, so prolly good bones on this car.

That hood is why I like it. It looks sorta like a 442 hood and that's not a bad thing. I use to comb junkyards in the late 80's when you could find GTO's in them and the 71 and 72 hoods were always bent. The hoods are so long that they bend in the rectangular cutout near the hinge. That cutout was put there to bend the hood in half in case of a collision. I have a 68 GTO hood I pulled out of a Pick_A-Part in Riverside CA back in 1987 that doesn't have those rectangular cutouts... it's just a circular hole. Anyway, the interior does it for me. That color just absolutely rocks. Again, remove the Judge graphics and wing, put a 71 Sport steering wheel and some 15 Honeycombs and that car would rock. It looks like it has a 350 Chevy 2BBL in it along with the hole in the muffler, but that paint looks real good to me.

68 Firebird NM 350HO in Pennsylvania at $15K reserve not met with a BIN of $35K. A frame off that looks like it wasn't put together perfectly. The car sits too high and looks like it was built for at least 17" rims. The interior isn't finished, but at least it's stock. A lot of work goes into a frame off, so I'd assume this isn't a positive ROI for the seller, but could be for the buyer with some tweaks if you could get it for the right price. A real nice thing about the car is the undercarriage being done. I would assume that's one of the dirtiest and hard parts to get done.

Not sure about that thought, for example the mufflers are too low and installed backwards.

69 Firebird convert in NJ at $500 NR. For $500 I'd love to have just the bolts in this car.

Thews, According to the ad, the owner has PHS showing this very adventurous Firebird convert project is 350 2bbl, NOT a 400 4spd car.

68 Firebird dealer car at $1K with a reserve in Maryland with some blatant (unexpensive things to fix) mistakes that make it worth less money. First of all, the steering wheel has to be stock. Pick a wood wheel repro if you have to, but make it stock. The "350-4" decals are not stock. Put a correct air cleaner on it and it'll look stock. Those subtle things make a big difference IMO regarding selling price.

72 Lemans convertible in NM at $15K BIN. Has some damage to the driver's fender and hood looks bent in the middle, but a pretty nice looking car at this price. IMO if there was ever a car needed to make a clone, it would be this one because you couldn't buy a 72 GTO Judge convertible. I'd paint it white and change the interior to red.

64 GTO in NJ at $25K BIN. Supposedly an original GTO, it looks like they painted it Iris mist (not original color) and has a 455.

65 GTO hardtop in Michigan at $1.8K BIN. Not sure if the GTO was a 242 car in 65, or was still an option on the Lemans? This is a 237 car and needs a lot, like a front end, engine and trans and quarters, but it's cheap enough. Not many pics.

68 Firebird 350 dealer car in NY at $45K BIN OBO. Super sharp green car. Not sure if I like the Camaro spoiler, but I really don't dislike it. Steering wheel needs to go, but it's built with Pontiac parts.

A tale of three cars, which one is the better deal? Since I'm just pretending I could ever own one of these, I'd say #2 is the best investment. What say yee?

Car #1 is a 69 Trans AM 4-speed convertible tribute at $79K OBO in Texas. No one with a sane mind would actually drive a real 69 Firebird convertible around town, which is a dead giveaway it's a tribute. It's a beautiful car without the stacked gauges... I'd put fake ones in it if I owned it.

Car #2 is a real 69 T/A hardtop 4-speed with the stacked gauges in Nebraska at $140K with 65K miles on it. Really nice car.

Car #3 is a real 69 T/A automatic with stacked gauges in Michigan at $121K BIN with 46K miles. Really nice car.
