As some might know my car came with idiot lights and slowing getting parts for ralley guages. I read a while ago that the 2 plug 8 grand tack had a chrome clock knob and different from the 70 black.flower small stem clock knob that has a 1 wire plug. Well I bought a rally cluster for extra parts and it has a black flower knob but cluster had a 2 wire 8 grand tac. Did the black flower knob come in both single and double plug tacs? I think the 2 wire tac can run hei with no problem but it cost about 500 to convert the 70 1 wire plug for hei. Can someone educate me on flower knobs and hei. I forget sometimes and a bit confused since it was my understanding that black knob was 1 year only.

70-72 used the black knob.

You can install HEI, however, the wire going to your coil power runs through a resistor wire. HEI requires full 12 volts so you'll just need to pull a wire to a good ign source.
