Not sure how much has discolored. Its been stuck to that valve cover 51 years.

When I put new valve cover gaskets on it a few years ago... I had to restrain myself from repainting the valve covers.

I have about 25 decals from the small test run. Happy to send a few out to contrast and compare to the originals. Just drop me a message.

MCACN had stunning ascot silver '73 SD Formula 4 spd displayed by Level One Restorations. Anyone know history of this car? Owned by forum member? 1 of 1 in that color of the 10 manuals built

PY member in TX owned it a while and has talked about it on here before.
He had a 73 TA SD 4spd also iirc.

Not sure how long ago he sold the Formula , but think it has been quite a while.
It probably belongs to the collector in Washington State named Phil , if it is a Level One restoration.

Owned by Phil Mitchell in Washington state. Myself, Dan, and Jeff Denison judged the Formula at MCACN. Very nice restoration by Level One.

Yeah, I saw the 74 brought good coin but personally not knowing the car I have no input. Gary, has some great cars in his line up and will keep an eye on them. Thanks, Mike!

To all who are unaware of the unofficial 455SD theme song. Here it is.

A great obscure Pontiac song is 455 SD by the Australian band Radio Birdmen. It can still be found on their album Living Eyes.

https://youtu.be/0gsiNjiATdw?si=ck_dMSrQBDNP85Wt

I got a dream machine from the Promised Land
Got a '71 Trans Am
Got a Hurst T-stick in my hand
Borg Warner four speed says I can
455 SD Energy
455 SD Mystery
Do the standing quarter mile in 12.5
Run it through, bring tears to your eyes
Edelbrock high rise manifold
Zero to 70 in 7.0
455 SD Energy
455 SD Mystery
Hit the road late at night
Deserted highway, cold moon light
Gotta keep driving, we gotta stay young
Drive on in the risin' sun
455 SD Energy
455 SD Mystery

Never heard tell of that song before .
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Ted Nugent spoke of them in the Wango Tango song.

That is the same car used in CHiPs series
Guessing it was in that film footage before it went to CHiPs - and was painted all gold/copper.

Ha, cool old video for sure. Thanks for posting it for us all to enjoy. Funny with the 74 dash plate on a 73 car but not picking anything apart here. Love the blazing end too.

There is a rock solid #s Blue 74 with deluxe Buckskin and Auto AC that is pretty far along with it's frame off resto , in Texas .
Native TX car.
I think it will be going to market after it's completed.

and a 70 SD 4spd that is Blue with deluxe Sandal might be out on the town this summer.

That Blue / Buckskin 74 SD in Texas is already completely finished and will be crossing the block at Mecum this Saturday afternoon.
They did a great job on a great car , turned out fantastic.
Complete #s car all the way through.

I suggested changing the interior color , but he wouldn't do it.
And it does look great with everything nice and fresh.
