Missing the most important part, the moving of the exhaust valves.

The ones on the exhaust did, this are first style Tigers the second ones have more meat in those areas . We add a round stock with steps for support to be able to support the torque and welded bottom and top area. The ones now this won't be necessary. Leak tested thoroughly .

ok - Here is my question - With as long as the Tigers have been around would it not be cheaper to put all these improvments into a modified casting ?? IE; Change the molds -- or is it still more efficiant to weld , modify and CNC this stuff?? The Tiger has been arournd for a while -- is it time for all the stuff that seems to make it better to be put into the "production" version??

Cost a ton to re do. Simple changes not to bad , i think they will be adding the material that i put in with weld. I could be wrong

Does that include the seats?

How much for a set to be bolted on, ready to run?

Hey guys...FINALLY back on this project , thought I'd share some updates . We will document the engine build with some pics and info as we go along . Heads are going back out to Mr. Marcella as we speak to have manifold built (don't worry John we gave the surfaces a true cut before they left...about .005 per) which gives me time to fit 2 exhaust ports in whats left of the real estate in the test piece so I can CNC the actuals when they come back from John's place. I was impressed with all that welding....the heads did'nt move all that much , an impressive showing for the durability of the casting , and John's ability to control heat!!! It's all coming together...time for a new bullet Frank!...stay tuned! Johnny

I had the good fortune to see these heads first hand. The workmanship, design and all the planned features gives these heads enormous potential.

And everyone involved in this endeaveor are just a great group of professionals and people.

Thanks Dan , was nice meeting you as well . One more pic of the seat ring experiment in the chamber just to make sure everything works out from the test head to this pair. both valve guides have been relocated . The exhaust is a throat bore size , not a seat pocket...as you can see...not much room left for exhaust valve and seat , but we know it works . I should add that there will be no additional milling required on the decks...chamber should finish around 45 cc or so. The first pic in the 3 above is a current full-port head with the welded head next to it for a window comparison. Approach is a bunch better...lots of the back of the valve can be seen from there!!! Johnny

Default Boggles the mind!

What some of you guys are doing with the "old" Pontiac layout, particularly cylinder heads, almost boggles the mind. Especially compared to what we had back in the day.

My congratulations to all involved on keeping the bleeding edge pushed out.

Craig
