Default ? for you computer boys

Just wondering ive had my new puter for about a year now, i have the MSE on it and i run a full scan usually once a week on it.............question i have nothing ever seems to come up on the screen when done, i look into the history of what was detected, Nothing.

Puter seems to run good, but when i had McAfee, every time i did i scan on that, seemed like i had a million problems, they fixed this or that or whatever.

Am i doing something wrong here. LOL

Thanks

Rich

if your searching and looking at certain sites your going to get things you don't need on your computer. Add-ware and Viruses abound in the net. Stick to safe sites and known ones and you will have less issues.

One thing I have laerned is, not one company seems to provide the best protection. If you install several different programs this is the best protection.

A lot of times competitors will only install if you remove the other.

I now run Norton and it is pretty good. Years ago I swore it off becasue it slowed the computer down so much. Seems they've gotten a lot better in detecting problems while running in the background.

I've used Norton, McCafee, AVG, & Bit Defender over the years. Everyone of those has caused trouble for me at some point. I've run MSE now for a couple years, and haven't had any problem with it. On occasion, it claims to have found an issue and corrected it. I'm careful where I go online, and I have my Windows Safety & Security settings set 1 notch below maximum.

So far, so good with MSE... I think

Windows Defender is (supposed to be) disabled when you install MSE. Here's a link that has some info about Windows Defender and MSE.

Glad I could be of some use here. I just barely know how my computers work. I just happened to know that 1 particular thing... haha.

My computer question to answer ratio is about 99:1

If you read the one comment on there that says that 2 running services for realtime protection cause problems, that is a good tip to heed. I see all the time where computers have multiple programs running on them, well they are morprone to infection and run like garbage. Run just 1 good program and you will be fine if you practice safe surfing.

Excellent point andyg,
Only run 1 anti - virus program on your PC.
Also avoid using windows Explorer, run Firefox or Chrome to avoid more exploits on the internet.
BTW;Both Firefox and Chrome self update now
