Default Chocolate Brown dash?

I was at a car show over the weekend and there was a Brewster green 73 TA with a dark brown dash and console with light tan seats with cloth inserts. Sorry no pics, evening show. I wasn't aware you could get a dark brown not dash in 73. Was it available on TA's?

That was the beige interior option, trim code 551. You don't see it very often but I think it is the best interior for brewster green.

Seems they turn up more than you might expect. I've seen several green cars with it. A couple red ones. Never a white one though. Same interior offered in 74. There's been a 74 Formula on ebay a couple times with that interior.

Default Beige cloth interior

I have a 73' Brewster Green Sd car with the beige cloth interior option. It came with the dark brown console, dash and brown carpet. Headliner and sail panels are beige. Pretty combination... but I'm biased!

Hey Gary, good to hear from you. You should be biased that car is beautiful.

BTW, Steve E badgered me to the point that he will have a white 73 coming his way this winter. I'm sure he'll be hitting you up for some details.

Does anyone know what SEM color is closest to the dark brown dash and console color in the 551 trim code.

Hey, got your PM asking this but I don't have an answer. My dash and console are all original vinyl, no dye. I do have the paint color for the beige if you need it.

Yes the color would help so at least I have a reference number. The entire interior was swapped out to black. That is no fun in Florida. There is no reference material that I can find on the dash and console colors. Thank you kindly.

551 is a 73 Custom interior code. Cloth seats.
Beige color. (have seen Covert Beige in some info)

Yes you are correct. Legendary Interiors has the panels and seat covers. I’m looking for the console and dash color name which appears to be a dark brown. Thank you for your reply. This apparently is a unicorn as in rarely seen.

If you get the carpet from Legendary, make sure you get the loop carpet. They sent me the cut pile for my '73 and claimed it was correct. I didn't open the box for a year after receiving so I was stuck with it.

Their 551 door panels and seat covers were nice.

We have one here in the shop with that interior and we'll be getting those parts colored in a couple months. We have to get that color special mix to be a correct match. I can have extra mixed up for you and send if it helps. Email steve@mymusclecarmemories.com. There's more to color than you'd expect, metal part of dash, dash pad (7 pieces), kick panels, console and lid, package shelf, speaker grill if equipped.

That would be awesome. I am picking up some SEM browns today to get a look at the possibilities. I will be in touch with you and thank you.

the 73 Formula (ascot silver paint) was a 551 car.

I ordered a carpet for it before giving the car back to my brother (he owned it before me);
At the time, there was only one source for the correct colour carpet - the name of that company eludes me, but iirc ACC bought them, and essentially dissolved the company.

Dash and console were this brown colour, and carpet complimented the dash & console;
Door panels and seats (along with rear seat "hump" cover) were beige;
The top seating surface a combination of cloth and corduroy, with sides bine vinyl;
Door panels were beige vinyl with corduroy inserts.

I love the 1973-551 interior.

My recollection is that the 1974 version of this interior was black - and never offered in these colours apart from the 1973 model year.

This is the information that I have found exactly how you described. I have the samples coming and I believe I will be installing the dark brown carpet. I hope my wife likes the different colors and materials. She’s a minimalist so it will be a battle.

I have photos of the interior in my IPad photos but can’t figure out how to upload.
