Default 68 ac ducts

Hey everyone, new member here. Trying to put my 68 Together from boxes of parts from previous owner. Currently working on heat and ac. Couple parts don't make sense to me. The left duct coming off the main duct piece don't fit together. The ends are slightly different. According to my restoration book the part numbers are correct. Any info would be be appreciated. Main duct 9793749, left duct 9790758
Thanks

I wonder if there are different part numbers for options like tilt wheel, column shift etc. ?

The piece on the right in the photo looks familiar (I have a 68 with AC, auto trans) the one on the left doesn't look that familiar.

Are you missing a section between the two? I kinda need to seem them laid out in their positions. Is there supposed to be transition piece between those two?

Also keep in mind the 68 and 69 ducts are completely different.

Jeez, I have more questions than you Someone will chime in with the answer.

According to my restoration book there is no piece in between. There are 3 part numbers in the book. Manual. And two autos, the two autos have a 1st and second design. I can't figure it out. I found the other duct online but the guy wants $225, kind of want to know for sure before I buy it

Figured it out. The heater box and main duct part are 1 year only. The main duct part is a 69-72 and the duct on the left is actually a 68. The heater box is also a 1 year part like the main duct. Companies selling heater boxes for 68-72 cars are incorrect. I've yet to figure out if and how I can make all these parts work together

It's the curse of owning a 68. Yes, tons of re-pop companies don't seem to grasp all the 1968 ONLY parts.
The dash had major changes from 68 to 69, very few things from a 69 dash will fit a 68. Even the key moved from the dash to the column. 69 is way easier to work on too.

Even the correct 68 parts can be a bit frustrating to make work, the years are not kind to that plastic and they can be tough to fit together.

Yes, the '68 is harder to work on, but I love it anyway!
