Pontiac tested and designed fan shrouds in late 50's early 60's. They built them to work on 10.5:1 engines With AC, IN THE desert.
Alcohol in fuel, even at 10% , increases engine temps by about 10 degrees on a stock build. This also decreases fuel economy. ( look at any new car window sticker EPA miles per tankful of fuel )
Copper is a MUCH better conductor of heat than Aluminum. Yeah, I said that. It is fact.
That said; modern technology in " Routing" fins, and pipe size can make " Some" Aluminum radiators work more efficiently IF it has a Rounded cone style Shroud.
Key to Any V8 cooling is a well fitting shroud, well fitting fan, and thickness of the radiator. Ability to transfer heat, aside from known engine / pump mods.
Unless your engine is over 10.5 :1 I guarantee you can keep it under 195.
If you have a Automatic, and get that trans fluid over 200, you are Cooking your transmission clutches and seals.
You can fix this.
The thermal conductivity of aluminum is 230 W/m-K and brass is 111 W/m-K.

You might want to check your core support bushings too, if the core rotted where the bushing is, it can drop an inch. And, that usually happens below the battery.

I'm in the 5 blade mech clutch fan group of recommendation.

If the copper radiator is in excellent shape, you should be good, if not, then use an aluminum one. (Not going to get in the debate of which is better for cooling, both will work, but aluminum is half the price).

Where did I say Brass? No offense, but look at what you quoted that I said.

All new core supports, engine looks slightly crooked though. Measures 14.5 inches from rocker cover to radiator on PS, 13.75 from DS.

So, did the diverter plate adjustment, 30% antifreeze with 2 bottles water wetter, HD fan Clutch and 19 inch 7 blade fan which just clears shroud & robertshaw thermostat. Temps didn't go over 195/200 in mild traffic on a hot day.

Thanks everyone!
