Default YZ Bare block in NC

I picked up this block last week.

Here are the codes.

Front of Block
005534 (Above the letter code)
YZ
101030 (Beside timing cover area) (In front of this number there are 3 very light stampings..maybe numbers 283 or 28E??)

Back of block
G067 July 6th 67 cast date
9790371 (Some of these were hard to make out but what I have looked up it should be for a 1968 400 HO 360 Horsepower)

The block is .030 bored and was ran. It had a rod break and at the bottom of one of the cylinders there is a notch where the rod hit. Some small dings in the cylinder too. Dings may clean up with boring or may need a sleeve? I have done nothing but take it apart.

If im wrong on any info I have gotten from the codes I dont mind you correcting me.

$500 (Wont ship) May trade???

I'd say the letters are 28B which is the partial VIN of the car it was originally in.

The block casting code is probably also 9790071.

It is the HO block though with the YZ code.

Im kinda new to the Pontiac thing..Does the B mean Buick?...lol...Just kidding...What makes ya think its a "B"? I picked up another 68 YC block big car block too and it has a 28E clearly at the start of that number.

B would be for a Baltimore built car.

John, most of the ones I've seen actually use the 8 instead of the B.

Don't know why - anybody back me up on that?

He said he couldn't tell what the 3rd digit was 28E101030 or 283101030.
I think it is 28B101030, which is the Baltimore plant as said.

The '2' is for Pontiac
The '8' is for the year, 1968.
The 'B' is for the plant, B-Baltimore

No Buicks were hurt in this episode.

I understood you, I'm saying they used the 8 instead of the B. I'll have to see if I can get a picture of one.
