My original thought was between $7000-$10000 but not many I talked to agreed with me. I didn't post my price thoughts here but did discuss them with the folks who asked me about it in the beginning. I didn't want to bias the conversation here with my speculations since most of you all know the Pontiac and GTO worlds better than I do. But if nothing else I'm glad his family is getting a great price for the car to help him with his health care needs.

Anyway, take a look at the engine photo. What is the heavy rubber thing bolted to the radiator support? Is that something owner added or a factory thing? I've never seen one and our 64 definitely did not have anything like that.

Pretty sure it’s an air deflector designed to push more air through radiator on A/C equipped cars. I added one to my non A/C car just to improve cooling efficiency

My ‘64 Le Mans with factory air has the same rubber seal along the top and a few down below to direct air flow through the radiator.

This seems to have stalled at $9.2K with about 23 hours left to go. It'll be interesting to see what unfolds tomorrow!

Inched its way up to $9300 now with a little over 4 hours to go.

Wonder if it’ll top 10k in the final minutes.

Sold - $11,400

I’m sure the attic full of extra parts the GTO owner had collected during his many years in the hobby didn’t hurt the final selling price.

Surprised so many here placed such a low value on it.

I never expected it to go this high, but after all this is the car that started it all. Even though it’s not equipped like most here would like their GTO it’s still a valued icon of the muscle car world.

Wow, very good deal for the seller! I furled my brow at the folks saying it was only worth $2-2.5K, but I only expected it to sell for around $5-6k. Never imagined it would sell for double that! Congrats to the seller.

More or less my thoughts exactly. Might have even helped the final price if they had inventoried the extra parts and provided pictures of what is included there.
