Current gears are 3.73s and a 28" tall slick.

Yea deep 9s the goal now. Thought low 10s would be OK Swapping on the DOTs again would be good if I was there too!

Stan in the IA/Camaro I think it was about 1700 warm and humid, the best in the 78 TA was one of those cool dry days-rare around these parts

Found a similar time slip 10.35 @132.0 and DA was 1760 when I looked up historical. Current Baytown DA is 2690! Down side on Baytown (besides they are closing after the 2022 Spring Nats) is last time I went no tine slips you get it on their app and I don't know how to save them!

Cam in current 500 a Comp 268/272 @ 0.050 Hi Torque .406 lobes on a 112 IC 108 1.65 rockers. On the dyno best power was loose intake and tighter exhaust lash but it sounded likw a sewing machine so both are at Comp specs now and on all my runs.

Not yet. I have a new trans to swap in soon. I tore the 78 TA down to swap springs shocks back to autocross suspension so it has been on the lift. Swapped 3.42s back in it and 30 spline posi too. Since the Camaro is the dedicated drag car now getting the TA more fun to drive on the street.

The trans always felt weird when doing burnouts so got a new TH400. If that does not get it will try advancing the cam from a 108 IC to 104. 112LS. Next step after that would be trying a new cam but don't have one or specs I would swap too.

I am thinking your 60's should be much better than mid 1.5's. I don't know what gear your tunning. When I run 132 I am at 9.9-10.0 with a 1.35 60' . 3400lbs and a 4,10 gear on 315 drag radials. But I have an A-body, I have a custom 8" ATI converter. A trans brake really woke up my launch. Foot brake only gets me a mid 1.4,
I would go with the 4.25 crank.

Hi Mike: I'm kinda in the same boat at Skip hence my post. I'm probably 3700 lbs with a 1.47 best 60 ft at 129 mph. Best 1/4 mile time was 10:29 with a 1.50 60ft at 132 mph. Mind you our elevation is at 2200 ft. 28 inch tire with 4:10 gear. Current convertor flashes to 5000. It feels like the engine would like more convertor, like 5500 maybe even 6000..

3.73s 28x10M/T slicks. Yea I would think 1.4 s at least, it freaking dead hooks and should not since I have not even touched shocks. 3 different convertors all pretty close to the same. Current is an Ultimate Convertors. Generally shift 6500-6700. May need to loosen convertor-close to 5000 on data logger, but I still think the trans may have some issues. I put the a-1 that flashed t0 5000 with my old 455 in the TA but it was still about that with this motor.

Hmm, your like me with the 60ft. I was thinking of trying a PTC convertor. And ours is dead hooking also, as far as I can tell anyway. I'm running a MT 28x11.5 slick. What are the 3 convertors you have tried? Thanks

My old A-1 that got me 1.51 60 fts in the TA. A JPT form the guy that built Lynn McCarty's SS convertors-originally for the RAIV 400 back in the day but never used. Sent him specs on this motor and he thought it would work . Now the Ultimate Convertor. Steve C.'s buddy John uses them in a lot of race cars.

Skip have you checked your starting line gear ratio? You could be chasing a phantom converter issue if your gearing is incorrect. Or have a converter speced to your gearing.

Convertor guys had all the specs and dyno sheet on this last one. It sure could be the bottom end is "soft" but you would think a 600+ HP 500 " would hit it pretty hard. More rear gear and will be taching a little higher on top end running it out the back end.

Dyno sheet attached.

Skip..I'm on a similiar search of the missing 60 ft times..my car hasn't been right for 2 years. Damn Covid and track shutdowns and limited track time..I spent a few track days in 2020 thinking it was the new carb slowing down the 60 foot. 2021 got out a few times car still wouldn't 60 foot even with near rear gears and back to the old carb .Finally tear into the transmission it was toast..broke parts, pump shot clutches gone..still ran good on the street but at the track 60 footed like a 301.

Skip: What intake and carb combo you go with? Were running a 4500 Northwind with a 1050 Quickfuel. Are you just foot brake off the line? No tranny brake here. Thanks
