What is the maximum head flow (int & exh) that anyone has achieved with the RA round port heads. I'm not interested in my buddy had had a set fluff. real numbers as there's a new NOS class I'm interested in and steel heads MIGHT be needed. So I need #'s to see if it would be worth while to invest in an old set to be competitive. Thanks for all replies. Later

I have a set of 722's done by Booth-Arons (sp?) in the 70's. The have had extensive welding (roofs raised and pushrods moved over .100"). I'm told that even back then, with titanium valves, etc., there was over $4000 into these things. I know next to nothing about the operation of a flow bench; I'm just reporting what information I have.

Anyhow, to confirm what Gach has been trying to hammer into everybody's heads (the Edelbrocks are 320" capable with little effort), the numbers that Brandywine flowed with these heads two years ago isn't all that impressive. I'll give .300, .400, .500, .600 and .700 #'s. These numbers were at 28" and without an intake manifold attached; just a wooden adapter funnel.

.300": 207.0 int./163.5 exh.
.400": 260.4 int./193.5 exh.
.500": 298.8 int./213.0 exh.
.600": 314.4 int./222.6 exh.
.700": 308.0 int./223.8 exh.

As you can see, at .700", reversion took place with the intake losing and the exhaust barely picking up either. If you compare these iron head #'s with those that Lou has told me he achieved with about 60 hours labor (the first set is always the most time-consuming), it makes little sense for a guy without class constraints to favor iron over aluminum heads. Lou has mentioned that Brandywine will provide port work to flow these numbers for about $800. You do the math.

Ken- the numbers Scott shared are pretty darn good for Rd port heads, but as he said, they have had extensive work!! I have a set of 1971 "197" rd ports that flow as follows:
@28" .3 207/140 These heads had the full
.4 250/169 race job done by a Pontiac
.5 268/187 shop- then redone 4years
.6 273/205 later by a local shop w/
.7 278/216 2.125 intake valves

This motor (462) made 607 HP and 576 TQ., with a victor jr. & BG goldclaw, and comp cams hyd roller (254@.050 .580/.580)

My RAM AIR IV S 614 FLOWED 303 AT 28 INCH WITH 2.15 INTAKE VALVE And flowed a whopping 283.2 at .400 ! Mind you I spent a small a fortune on them.The car weighs over 3600+ pounds and runs 9s no nos thru the exhaust.
