I was thinking about rigging something up that would let me open the headers at least partially. I kinda like the sound on occasion. Is there a good way to do this and not have problems in the future because of this modification. It has to be something that requires minumum labor to uncap and recap and less tools needed the better.

I have what they call "Quickie Tubes" on mine. The are the same size as my collector (3.5"). They provide a cut out for the exhaust. It is opened with three wing nuts. The problem on mine is that the exhaust is so free flowing you don't get the full sound of open headers. I need to find a way to block the exhaust from going out the tail pipe. My thought was to slip a sleeve inside the open "Quickie Tube" that blocks the exhaust from going to the mufflers.
