Do all models of pontiac headers have clearence problems? I have a 69' Catalina and bought a mini starter for some extra clearence, but then found out that there was none. I had to ding in the header to keep it from touching the positve cable terminal on the solenoid. They are the summit brand 1 5/8" headers for a 69' GTO. Besides the starter they fit ok. If the primary that is too close was re-routed some how via custom header, would this hinder the flow? Do hooker or hedmen headers have the same design? I will be putting a new engine with E-heads in it in the future and I'd like to get headers that fit well. I'm setting up for 600hp rear wheel, 750hp with bottle on weekends. Will this require 2" primaries? Also I had new 2 1'4" exhaust put on with summit turbo mufflers. Will I need to have bigger exhaust pipe for my setup, or can I get away with this size?

I know that my Hooker Super Comps have given me grief. I was told by the factory that these were proven to work without any mods ... HA!
First thing I had to do was relocate my oil filter, second was to buy the mini starter to fit, and I stil had to "ding" the pipe to fit right!
I am running a set of 2" super comps into a 3 1/2" collector, 3 1/2" pipes to a Dr. Gas reducing 'X', 3" out of the 'X' all the way through the tailpipes.
