I just saw an Endura-delete '68 convertible. I did not get to see the owner but I was dying to approach him and say, "Why'd ya put GTO badges and hood on what's clearly a LeMans?" for a split second before coming clean.

I have been at a show with my Judge. Heard a guy say to his chick, this is the car from Dukes of Hazard! I just shook my head in disbelief!

Drag racing. An adrenalin rush like no other. It felt like going into combat, tasting your first beer, and losing you virginity, all in about 8 seconds.

My kid brings my 71 TA to a local car show......a lady tells her son, "it's a Camaro". My son says, "no it's a Trans Am". She says, "no, it's a Camaro". He shows her on the car the decals that say, "Trans Am". She still wouldn't believe him and insisted its a Camaro. Sheesh!

How about being told "That's not real because those never came with vinyl tops."

Remind them that vinyl tops were high profit margin, so they (Marketing/Sales) pushed vinyl on anything they could sell.

Had a guy push on my driver's seat one time to "see if it felt like a 4700 mile seat".

x2.
That was my point before. If a kid is even AT a car show, that's great! Especially in my area. Heck, the other day I parked in a shopping center with my 328 and a 16 year old kid couldn't wait to run out and compliment the car, ask questions about the options (it's a slightly unique setup (M sport, manual, RWD car). He got some facts wrong, mostly because it's debadged. But that kid clearly was eating, sleeping and breathing cars. And that is a good thing in my book!

You should have asked him if it felt like it had ever been farted in.

Oddly enough, no one has ever told me mine is fake--but it obviously is! Most folks just assume it's real. I always correct them that it's a real GTO, but sadly not a judge...

Generally I've found that if you have a car that is restored correctly with all the
little nit-picky details done right, nobody is going to question the car's provenance in most cases. If you have a musclecar with a lot of the things not right on the details, it will be questioned with great regularity.

Those are some crazy stories. I've never had my car out since I've had. I definitely can't wait to see the faces and questions I will get. I highly doubt I will just for the fact that here an old school muscle car is rare. Even more so owned by someone my age. Here in the valley the thing is slammed fast trucks. I've done it been there done that. My real passion is my LeMans.

This is the usual. Welcome to the RGV.

It's interesting how they call fake cars, tribute cars. I guess it's a lot nicer to say then fake?

I think a "tribute" implies it's a clone of a specific vehicle, like a RAV Royal Bobcat clone.
