Although I was never really affected by this I will never Forget what I was watching on the TV. I was in disbelief as to what was happening, thought it was some sort of joke. As I watched and realized this was real life. Saddness came upon my thoughts. Now my thoughts are with those affected by this, we did send supplies and our Hearts but that may not have been enough.

I am now a retired firefighter but was active when this event took place. I watched it unfold on TV but had to turn it off because I just couldn't watch it. Today was the first time I have watched some of the programs about it and it still gets to me. God bless all those who lost their lives and the families that have lost their loved ones.

I too will never forget watching this unfold on TV. I remember saying to myself, the world has changed forever on this day from here forward. I watched a video yesterday morning on survivors tell their story. Pretty sad. Rest in peace.

Always a sad day here, my Wife's brother died that day. Worked for Marsh Mclennan on the 97th floor of the North Tower. Marsh lost 295 people, every single person that worked there. Their offices covered the entire impact zone from floors 93-100. Basically a direct hit on their offices.
Had a wife and two children, one brother and three sisters. No remains ever recovered.

I still remember watching the news as the second plane hit the other tower. It is hard to believe it has been 21 years since that happened. The images of that day and everything that unfolded are still hard to watch. It was amazing to see how all Americans came together to help one another through the day/weeks/months/ years. That is the second time the world learned what it is like to wake a sleeping giant

I was in Kosovo at Camp Bonsteel when it happened. I was in my office (I was the Battalion Motor Officer) trying to read on the internet what was happening while listening to AFN radio. I have never been so mad, sad and confused in my life as I was later that day. We had a Company Commander who had a sister that died that day in the North Tower.

My home town Memorial
This is set on the Highland Hills overlooking Sandy Hook bay.
You can see lower Manhattan from most of the coastal towns around where I lived. It is an emotional spot to visit. https://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/page.aspx?ID=2495

My aunt flies for American Airlines. 2 weeks before that day she switched her schedule up because she had something going on. Well just about every person that made up the flight crew on AA11 she knew. Amy Sweeney was one of her best friends. A friend of mine growing up lost his uncle who was also from our town.
My aunt had flown out to San Diego the day before. I was working at a vendor assembling Mach 3 Turbo store displays (I worked for Gillette) and we learned a flight from Boston crashed in NYC. I knew my aunt flew BOS to LAX. I didn't learn until later it was that flight to LAX. Because of the phone lines being jammed we didn't learn that she had flown to SD the day before until much later in the day. A few weeks later we had a gathering at my parents house and my aunt was there and she had pictures of the last trip she had taken with the crew of Flight 11 when they were in LA. She has major survivor guilt and she drinks a lot now. It has been very hard on her. |
