Looks great John! Have fun with it. I'm surprised you need an appraisal for your insurance. Are you using a classic specialist? I think most of those just require a few pics and a declared value. I use American Collectors, mainly because they're easy to sign up with online. Again, have fun, it's gorgeous.

Thanks Ron. I use the term "appraisal" loosely, because I wrote it. Actually it is just a "stated value" policy, not too difficult to obtain, like you said; a value, description and some pictures and you are there.

John, be careful of the "stated value" policies from the big insurance companies. I think the term used for most of the classic insurance companies is "agreed value". From your build, I can tell your careful and do research, so forgive me if I'm out of line. This link briefly explains the differences.
https://www.lelandwest.com/stated-va...-insurance.cfm I have State Farm for my daily drivers and house, but I wouldn't put their "stated value" policies on my GTO's.

great thread and beautiful car! i'm very interested in the ball vent install you did on your dash. i started a thread over on gtoforum about this very modification, but didn't come up with much. i also have a non-AC car and i will be adding a vintage air system - no choice in texas. my plan was to use only those 2 vents for the system to keep the install as clean as possible. i honestly can't say if that will be enough ducting for the system, but that's the plan at the moment. any chance you have pics of the ball vent install or any advice you'd extend on doing this - positioning, measurements, lessons learned...?
my only other concern is that i have a nom, stock '67 (even with the entire Cali AIR system in place) and i am a bit hesitant to cut into that dash. issue is, i have to have air here in TX. right now, i plan to keep the car long term, so i want it done right for me, but this is about my 40th car, so i know how i am. my thinking is, if it's done at a high level and stock components are used in the stock locations, it will lessen the issues some will have with it (if i sell). don't mean to highjack the thread, but enjoyed seeing you having the done the install i've been thinking about and thinking how great it does look.

Linden,
Thanks for your comments. I used both the ball vents and the lap vents under the dash. Kinda makes the car a "hybrid" look as there is no A/C controls yet there is the vents. Provides plenty of cool air. PM me or email me at jchrist56@new.rr.com and I can send you some pix of the install. As to cutting into the car, I would go ahead as you stated the car is NOM, so you won't be butchering a numbers matching rare car. Build it as you want it. You will see this comment throughout these threads as these cars should be on the road and built as the owner wants unless in the rare case of a very rare optioned car with significant provenance.
