Default 1967 400 manual steering alt brackets

I decided that to fire up my firebird for the first time i would leave off the a.i.r. pollution stuff. I got the manual steering aluminum bracket and the two top brackets. It doesn't seem to fit right. Anyone have a diagram or pictures? It seems like the back of the alternator is hitting the valve cover.

Is this not the right bracket for manual steering?

Default '67 Alternator brackets

I have a '67 manual steering California GTO and my alternator brackets look like this diagram. I'll try to find a few pics if you'd like. Notice the top bracket is a single that keeps the alternator further away from the valve cover.

Hmm on my phone the link didn't show.

That looks like a power steering alt bracket.

Dantip, is yours an a.i.r. car?

Is that diagram valid for 67 firebird also? Where is that diagram? Looks like it tells you how to restore.
Thanks!

Default brackets

pictures from
Franks website
on the manual brackets
first I thought the 67 used a 68 style since the 67-69 70 power steering pumps were the same

Default Bracket

My car is a California Smog HO manual steering. The upper alternator bracket/arm connects to the head through the aluminum smog bracket. My car is not currently at my house, so I will have to get some photos.

It would be really appreciated. I have been looking for a.i.r info for years.

Can you provide the other page which had all the part numbers and bolt lengths? What manual is that?

Scott. Do you think i have the right aluminum bracket but the wrong uppers? Did manual vars have two upper brackets?

In one of your photos, I see what looks like the correct A.I.R. aluminum bracket that bolts to the driver-side head. The alternator bolts to that bracket and there is a single strap that provides the top adjustment on the alternator.

The alumumin bracket is part number 9774773. I don't have the little strap. Apparently the upper front bracket is linger than normal. I have one that is similar but a few inches shorter.

I’m rather confident those are not correct for this application. The 67 alternator brackets for A.I.R. Equipped cars are different. I’ll share detailed photos and part number details within a few days.

" I decided that to fire up my firebird for the first time i would leave off the a.i.r. pollution stuff. "

I guess I read it wrong .......
I thought he was trying to make the bracket dangling in his picture work without the A.I.R. stuff on the engine
thats why he is using power steering upper brackets for 67-9 that dont work with the lower bracket he has ...

Im out ... and sittin on the side ....

Here’s a few pics from the Service Manual. I have a smog system I could sell including the air cleaner if interested.

Here's a pic that shows the upper alternator strap connected to the smog casting. I'll send better pics over the weekend.
