Thumbs up Memorial Day

Everyone have a safe and fun filled Memorial Day holiday weekend through Monday. Please keep in mind what this day is for, and fly the flag high for those we will never forget.

On another note I recently asked a group of multi School aged kids what this day meant to them and sadly the answers were as follows.... camping, picnics, hamburgers and hot dogs, flying on a plane, fireworks.

Honor those who died for your freedom but also pray for those who suffer from surviving now with PTSD.
These is a great video

The wife & I visited 8 rural cemeteries in our area. Placed 140 flowers at relatives, friends, and just some people who have no others visitors who remember them.
It is sort of a tradition for us. My mother did it for years and wanted it to be continued. She had a great interest / connection with the past.
I hope everyone enjoys the holiday but also take a minute to reflect on the departed.

My dad passed away back in September. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War era. Will be heading off today to Calverton National Cemetary with an American flag and some flowers. On this weekend I'll miss him even more.

My uncle served in WWI. I am 65, my dad was 50 when I was born, and his brother was 12 years older.

Hard to believe this post only got six replies on a long Memorial weekend
