Default SS Class Elims

Don Kennedy red lighted away a class win in GT/AA.

But Peter Biondo won GT/CA, and Leo Glasbrenner was RU.

Default Stock--Class Finals

Well, several Pontiacs made it to the finals of their class elims. But there were no winners.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

Maybe they'll do better tomorrow.

Again, I have both good news and bad news. The bad news is that all 4 Pontiac Stockers had to run another Pontiac in round 3. That means that 2 of 'em are eliminated.

But the good news is that the other 2 move on to round 4.

OK, round 4 eliminated another Pontiac Stocker.

But, Brad Burton moves on to round 5.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

And, Peter Biondo is still alive after round 3 of SS.

Unhappy Close, But Not

Well, Peter Biondo drew a redlight in round 4, to end his day.

Brad Burton Made it all the way to the finals.

But he came up about 4 inches short in the final.

But congrats to Peter and Brad for making a good showing with Pontiac power !

There are several division races this weekend, weather permitting. Qualifying is underway in Vegas. Looks like there are at least 6 Pontiac powered Stockers. Leo Glasbrenner is #2 qualifier after round 1, with his C/SA '68 Bird.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r=100#indextop

There are also several Pontiac powered Super Stockers there, including Keri Angeles, who made the 1st 9 sec pass in a non GT, 400 Pontiac Super Stocker. After round 1, Don Kennedy is #1 qualifier, with his GT/AA '05 Sunfire. Good luck to all Pontiac powered racers this weekend.

Default Q-2

After the 2nd round of qualifying, Leo was bumped to #3 in Stock. But Don Kennedy is still #1 in SS.

Default Division 4

The "Good Guys" of Division 4 are also having a race this weekend, at the Texas Motorplex. The only Pontiac powered car I can spot is the H/SA '74 Bird, driven by Hunter Pierdolla. I think this car is (or was) sponsored by John Clegg's Mission Garage. So, good luck to Hunter.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

I also noticed something else interesting in the qualifying list. One of the entrants is Greg Stanfield. Some of you guy's may recall that he did some Pro Stock racing in recent years. I also noticed the name Aaron Stanfield, on the SS qualifying list. So, I reckin we now have another generation of racing Stanfields.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

We 1st met Greg at the Halsville, Texas track, back in the '70's. He was racing a Stocker, with his dad, Howard Stanfield. They were super nice folks. And although they didn't run Pontiacs, Mr. Howard would always stop by our pit to say hi and ask how we were running. One reason why that stands out in my mind, is because MOST of the Chevy guys we raced against were not friendly to us at all.

Default Round 2

Three Pontiac Stockers survived round 2. So we're still alive.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

Three SS Pontiacs made thru round 1. But 2 of 'em have to run each other in round 2.

Well, Leo Glasbrenner made it to the semi final round, in Stock.

But there, a lady took him out, with a .008 light.

Default Late Results

Well, I been clickin on the old site for the last few days, and still seeing the notice about being back up in 48 hours. Just a few minutes ago saw a link to the new site, on another forum. So, I may be the last to know.

Anyhow, there has been some more news about Pontiac Stockers.

Brad Burton had a good month of racing in Vegas. After getting a RU earlier in the month, he decided to do a little bracket racing with his Bird Stocker. They held a big bracket race called the "Spring Fling". Brad got another RU Thurs nite, then won the Pro bracket and a $5000 check Fri nite.

So, congrats to Brad ! I think he has done a great job of representing Pontiac power, in drag racing !

Default Indy

There's a division 3 race at Indy this weekend. There are 120 Stockers qualified. Quite a few Pontiac powered cars are on the list. I'm not familiar with all of 'em. Randi Lyn Shipp has the highest qualified Pontiac, with her '67 Bird. She's running C/SA for this race.

There's another lady driver on the list, with a '68 E/SA bird. Because of my history, I'll have to pull for the Pontiac ladies.

Brent Flynn is also on the list with his '68 E/SA Bird. This is just his 2nd season in Stock Elim.

There are both 1st and 2nd gens on the list, plus a GTO. And how about a '62 GP, driven by Bob Michael ? I'd like to wish all the Pontiac racers good luck this weekend !

There was a nice article in ND about Michael Brand and his 70 Firebird.
(he lived in Colorado and raced with the Burtons, now in AL)

Rob Holmes from Dayton, OH will be running a 400 Pontiac in Stock class. A 77 Firebird. He runs out of our tiny engine shop here where Bill Rink also has his 350 Pontiac SS engine work done. Good luck to all Pontiacs!

There are several GT Super Stockers, on the list. But I don't recognize any of the names, as having Pontiac power. So I assume they are all Chevy powered. If any of you guys know of any of the SS cars that have Pontiac power, please post the info.

I just found a pic of Bob Michael's '62, from a few years back.
