The div race this week is at Gainsville Raceway. It'll be followed, next week, by the Gator Nats.

In looking over the Fri SS Q list, I noticed William Kennedy, with his '85 Bird. I think it is the former Vic Santos car. I think I remember reading that he blew the engine last year.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

So, does anybody know if he went back with Pontiac power or not ?

He's running GT/MA, which is a 12 lbs/hp class. If my math is correct, that means he is either running a 350 Pontiac or a small Chevy of some kind.

A low CR 400 @ a 290hp factor would require the car to weigh 290 x 12 = 3480

At around 3200 lbs it would run the 11lbs/hp class, which is GT/KA. 11 x 290 = 3190

A low CR 350 @ a 250hp factor would require the car to weigh only 250 x 12 = 3000 even.

Since he ran a 305 powered SS 3rd gen, it makes sense that he might have replaced the Pontiac with a 305.

I see that Kevin MacNicol is on the Super Street Q-list. I assume he is driving a Pontiac powered car. Anybody know for sure, & does anybody have a pic of the car you can post ?

https://www.nhra.com/results/2018/lu...r/super-street

A black 2nd gen S/ST car shows up on the pic site, under his name. Don't know if this is the car he's driving or not ?

I also see Matt Tankersley on the S/G live timing list.

Here's the D3TV live stream from today's race.

Allen Hollingsworth had the only Pontiac to survive Stock E-1.

Allen Hollingsworth also survived Stock E-2. But to do it, he had to step it up, since it was a heads-up G/SA run.

https://www.nhra.com/results/2018/lu...ock-eliminator

Bill Kennedey ran his dial-in, but left too early, in SS E-2.

https://www.nhra.com/results/2018/lu...ts/super-stock

Kevin MacNicol lost his 2nd round match-up, in S/ST.

https://www.nhra.com/results/2018/lu...s/super-street

Matt Tankersley won his 1st round of S/G.

Is this the same car that use to be a Stocker ? If not, does he still have the Stocker ?

ponyakr,

I think that's Kyle Riley's old car, which he sold to Stevenson and Jack Larsen use to drive & then bought ? I think Wayne Larsen might be his son or relative ? This car always ran fast, hope this helps ?

Thanks for the info.

I found these pics on the autoimagery.com site, under Kevin MacNicol's name. It appears to have his name on the window. So, I just assumed that he had raced it as an E/SA car, at some point in the past.

Thanks for the info !

TJ & I paid a visit to my trans man, yesterday. He shared some pics with us, which he took back in the 80's.

The 1st is of the '69 Bird, which I've read, later made the 1st ever 9 sec pass, by a non GT Pontiac powered Super Stocker. He said he thought the pic was taken at the Texas Motorplex. The driver, for the 1st 9 sec run was Keri Angeles, daughter of John Angeles.

"...KERI ANGELES DROVE HER FATHERS 1969 R.A.FOUR FIREBIRD TO A RECORD SETTING 9.99 E.T. TO BECOME THE FIRST EVER N.H.R.A. SUPER STOCK 400 INCH PONTIAC INTO THE NINE SECOND ZONE. CONGRATULATIONS JOHN, MELINDA, KIM, AND KERI FOR ACHIEVING A LIFETIME GOAL TO BE THE FIRST S/S CATEGORY CAR, (NOT A G.T.,) TO GET IN THE NINES. TO PROVE IT WASN'T A FLUKE, THEY CAME BACK IN THE FIRST ROUND OF ELIMINATIONS FRIDAY MORNING TO WIN WITH ANOTHER 9.99 AND THEN, IN THE THIRD ROUND, WENT A 9.98!..."

The 2nd pic is of John Clegg's SD455 '73 Formy. As the caption says, the pic was taken at the Cajun Nats. I noticed an H-O Racing Specialties decal on the driver door. That reminds me that I still have a few of the H-O decal repros left, if anybody wants some. They're still $10 for a pair, and $3 for each additional pair. Anyone interested can Email me for order info.

Yep, it's that time again !

There are at least 2 Pontiac powered cars on the property. The 1st pic shows Adam Strang's '68 Bird, still in the trailer. The 2nd pic shows Michael Brand under his 2nd gen Formy. I'm curious as to what he's workin on. Appears to be in the oil filter area. Only other items I can think of, in that area, is the header, the trans cooler lines & dipstick tube. Maybe he's gonna change to thinner oil, since it's so cold down there.

Just for kicks, what do you guys think he might be doing ?

Those low temps may produce some quick times for the 1st pass.
