Anyone know of a place that does good Electroplating in the NY, NJ, and PA area? Triple chrome like bumpers or Headlight bezels.

You have two choices of what you can do. Fisrt choice is go to the swap meet at Racway park and go to the bumper boys and trade in your old bumper with some cash. the second choice is to use Keystone Automotive. They did a really great job on my 72 Lemans Sport. Both front and rear bumpers and lower valance were $776 to replate. The turn around is really good and the quality is great.

I would never deal with Bumper Boys again!
I purchased a front and rear bumper for my 65 GTO, within 6 months the chrome started to peel on the front bumper. I called them and was told they would have a replacement at Carlisle. When I got there, no bumper, when I questioned them they got very arrogant. Then they said they would have one at Hershey
the following week. I told them I would bring mine back next week. So like a fool I went to Hershey and still no bumper, it got left behind by mistake. The funny thing was another guy was there for the same thing and they didn't have his bumper either. Now 2 years later my rear bumper is starting to show rust. Good Luck

Thanx alot guys.... I appreciate the help. Basically I want to have my headlight bezels redone. I just bought triple chromed repo's of my front and rear bumper. As you all know, there are no repo's for a 1969 firebird headlight bezels. God only knows why. I lost about two nice sets bidding on EBay. I figured since mine are in good shape [except for some pitting], and the chrome, I would try and have them replated. Unless anyone out there has a set they are hiding. Figures Pontiac would use them for only one year.

Mitch, I went that route and cost me 75 to 90 each depending upon how bad pitting the was. That was done a company in Woodbridge NJ, named Wolf Plating but I believe they are no longer there. If you go to the AC show on Feb 9-11th, there are a few local guys there who do chrome (bumper boyz as well) Good luck.

Steve... I was thinking of buying my own Electroplating setup. They have a decent kit for $455.00. But then again how much will I use it. I'm almost done with the body.

Getting a bumper chromed and small parts chromed (reaonably priced)is likely to be two different sources. Also, there is probably a good regional source depending on what part of the country your from. In the east....

Martin's of Philadelphia has always done quality work and quick turnaround time on small diecast parts. (215) 331-5565 I've heard good things about Pauls Plating also.

Mitch, can you send me a pic of the bezels or post one here, depending on how bad the pitting is I might be able to get them done for you - don't waste your money on one of those kits. Plating is not as easy as it looks.

JB... The pits aren't bad.... needs to be smoothed out. They are in great condition structurally. The Chrome is getting that blackist look. I'll take one or two off and show you a picture.

Mitch, we got 'snookered' by a fast talking salesman for one of those plating 'kits' several years ago. In a word: "Don't"!!! Jon.

Go to Classical Pontiac and search the archives for "Bumper Boyz."

I'm in NY and I use Paul's Chrome to do my pot metal consoles and bezels Very good work but can be pricey at time.It depends on how much pitting. One console in fair to good condition is around $600-$700 range bezels $100.
