Default Identifying my Q-Jet carb

7037262

so far i found out that it is for a 67 pontiac and an auto tranny, i read in a website that the 37 means its for a A.I.R. vehicle, what is that?

1967: 27 (or 37 on A.I.R. engines)
What im trying to find out is wheather this is a 750 or 800 cfm.
Would anyone recommend i stick with my q-jet?

my engine is at stock with 670 heads
summit 2802 cam .465/.488 114lsa
and performer intake
im going for a 2800-3000 tq converter and a 3.55 in the rear

i dont remember who it was but i dont mean to discredit you, but he told me that a lot of out-of-box carbs just are no good and need a lot of tunning, so should i pay a few bucks to get my q-jet all Gd-up or invest in a new 750?

http://www.recarbco.com/technical/rochester/qjet.html link is for carb identifying.

Calif cars got an Air Injection Reactor System, A.I.R. which pumped air into the exhaust to further treat the emissions.

Stick with the QJet. The '67 units are 750cfm and are good for street use as long as the fuel supply is good.

A.I.R was a term used for an air pump. The engine had a pump mounted on it, that was belt-driven. It was located above the water pump, just in front of the intake manifold. Lines came out the back and went into the 670 heads just below the valve cover edge. If you look at your heads on the side, above the spark plugs, there is a rounded edge. Directly above the spark plug holes you will see 4 little round plugs. On AIR equipped cars this is where the pump lines went into the head, and the pump pumped air into the exhaust ports to dilute the exhaust gasses and reduce hydrocarbons(unburned fuel).
