I have them in a 69 Firebird convertible that is also mini tubbed. Very pleased. I have their lowering springs front and rear with their suspension as well, tubular upper and lower A-arms and shocks. If you would like a picture of the car from a side view I can send one, just PM me an email address or a smartphone number.

Was just debating the 2” or 3” drop DSE leaf springs for my son’s 79. I don’t believe glass, seats, bumper, etc will make much of a difference. Did you wait to tighten everything up until the suspension was fully loaded?

Yes I understand the shackle tension can hold the car up . But I do have the Duron sleeves in the rear hangers and sat car, and then tightened the bolts .
I called Detroit Speed about my concern . They asked if the springs had a arch before installation. They did not have much. They though I had the correct spring . If you watch there video they have examples of the stock spring arch the 2 inch and the 3 inch springs next to each other .

His recommendation was to finish car and drive it . Then revaluate.

You know I have gotten similar answerers from coil spring ppls . My thought was always B. S. The factory builds cars sends them out the door and there correct height from day one . Springs don't change there lbs. per inch. I do understand the control arm bolts tight to bushings and the Shackle bolts holding the springs but ????

to some the height is the clearance under the car, others compare it to the rear wheel/tyre gap to fender for the right 'look', all of which is personal taste and for their individual setup.

have you considered PTFB springs or other suspension parts? very good quality & usually priced better than DSE or hotchkis.

i use their GT suspension kit on my 72 firebird & am very happy with the ride height & quality/performance. rear leafs are about a 1.5-2" drop & the hardware comes with shackles that give 2 choices for height.

Did you use both the front and rear PTFB springs? Can you post a picture of your car?

Here are some pics of my base model 72 with pro-touring F body front and rear springs, front and rear sway bars, subframe connectors, upper and lower control arms, shocks, g braces and solid body mounts. Very high quality products.

The car is amazingly solid- more than a factory full frame car. If you jack up a corner of the car the entire side of the car (both front and rear wheels) come off the ground. It’s extremely stiff- feels like a road race car.

Thanks- I’m still hoping it settles a little. The car has almost no miles on it after the build

heres a couple that show the ride height of the PTFB GT kit. these are the "big block" front springs they suggest for pontiac engines, i first had the lighter springs but they sat way too low, even with the lighter engine & car, those are best for SBC & LS motors. the rear shackles have 2 positions to choose, this is on the lower of the 2. tire size makes a big difference in stance & wheel well to top of tire gap too, these pics are with 225/70s that are stock size for later 2nd gens on 15x7 rally 2 wheels but i have 255/60 on it now & they are only ~.5" shorter so doesnt change the stance much at all.

as for settling or sagging, new springs dont settle much if any if all bolts are final torqued with the weight of the car on the ground, the car sits the same as it did when they were installed ~6 years ago & so do my other cars that are ~10 years since installing new springs & leafs. it took a decade or more & 50-75k miles for these cars springs to start sagging a large amount. my 1981 T/A has stock rear leafs that sit up nice & high pretty much like when it was new. springs can sag but it took a lot of miles, time &/or abuse to do it sooner than normal.

just wanted to mention PTFB as another option for grd77, they are excellent quality & just as good as the bigger name brands & far better priced.
