Default Under car or fender exit headers?

I see a lot of cars these days with fender exit headers. Some say it helps them tune it by looking at the header flame. It is louder I was told.

Under car headers are a lot quieter, but it's harder to see the flame.

After bolting the heads to the block it looks harder to put the headers under the car.

That indian is way to nice to go cutting on the fenders. In a few years everyone will be patching all those fenders anyway.

Fenderwell headers look very cool old school. No clue about performance differences. This example did not cut the fenders.

Any fluids out the headers are less likely to get on the rear tires. And the cool factor of the flames down the track.

I say go for it.....

I would go with the glass fenders and little short side exits if I were you. The flame that you see has a lot to do with the duration of the cam the color is the air to fuel.timing has large part to play in this as well. Dont worry you will get to see what they look like.

When you drive it to the liquor store to buy beer, you run the chance of setting the place on fire from the parking lot.

No performance difference to speak of, the MAIN reason is not having to repair them after every wheelstand.

I like the fender exit headers with nitrous cars......I know apples and oranges but we just finished a set of fender exit headers on a '70 Camaro S/ST car and we had to cut the firewall to give the tire some clearance for turning....fwtw.....
