Default 1965 GTO/Lemans 2-Door Hardtop Body With Original Paint

1965 GTO/Lemans 2-door hardtop rolling shell that still has it's original paint and also a posi rear end.The 1/4 panels are very straight and in my opinion have little rust for being 44 years old.The rear tail panel is rust free, but i need it unless someone has one just as nice to trade. The trunk floor and wheel houses are very useable. The lower trunk floor to 1/4 panel extensions are also very nice. This would be a good car to re-body or use the rear clip on another car.The frame, front floor pans, rockers, and dash are bad.$1,600.Western,MA.

how different is a '65 body from a '64? Would it just be the tailpanel, or are the 1/4's different? Is the dash panel (steel) the same? Basically, how tough would it be to rebody a '64 with a '65 shell?

The shell is exactly the same except for the rear tail light panel as you stated. The 1/4 panels are the same and the dash is metal and also the same as the 64.It would be easy to re-body into a 64 because the only difference is the front sheet metal nose and the tail light panel. If you are interested,i can use the tail light panel from this car for my 65 GTO and could take some money off.I just did not want to cut it out if someone wants to rebuild it or re-body it back into a 65.

Question

Why cut it up?

It looks like it would be a good street builder for a young guy on a budget.

Besides, quarter skins are available reproduction.

Have you eBay'd it?

I am thinking about listing the car on ebay.I am also considering building another drag car and back half this one.I have been doing restoration for 32 years now and the reason the 1/4 panels on this car are worth useing is because anyone out there that has been doing restoration for as long as i have or longer knows that the repo 1/4 panels are junk. The aftermarket 1/4 panels are wavy,do not fit correctly, and the shape and thickness of the panels are not the same.

Question

Have you listed this car on ClassicalPontiac.com?

Have you listed it on eBay?

Do you have a clear title in your name?

Also, could you post pictures of the bad areas?

Thanks.

I have only listed the car on this site and craigs list.I do not have a title and no other pictures at this time.I do need to move it soon,so i may list it once on ebay and if it does not sell,i am going to remove the rear body panel, both 1/4 panels and crush the rest.I am surprised that this car has not sold.It has a very nice rear clip and would also make a great drag car.
