larger alternator
I am going from an 88amp alternator to 140amp...do I need a larger gauge power wire so nothing melts?

Yes. And the length matters to. The alternator wont be putting out 140 continuous but it can peak at 140 for a short time, and things could heat up.
Probably should run a 6 gauge , and no longer than around 6 feet. You will also need to increase the main ground wire size to be safe. |
