67 GTO seatback problem
I had my bucket seats reupholstered professionally, but I kept the seat backs and aprons so I could repaint them. It took me over a year to get the painting done (a long story), but now I have a different problem. I can't get the seat backs to push down far enough so that the hole for the seat lock lines up. I think the vinyl at the top is too tight. If I tighten the retainer 'hooks' down tight to the seat frame, the vinyl won't compress enough for the lip of the seat back to slide under them.
I'm thinking that some heat from a day in the sun. or from a hair-dryer might help, but I'm looking for other suggestions. I would appreciate your thoughts and tips. Kerm |

Two things come to mind with this,
Are the upper retaining clips in the correct location and/or is there padding around the sides thus preventing the metal back from setting down into them? Add some pics if you haven't resolved the issue and I'm sure others will chime in. Cheers.

Thanks for your reply, Jeff. I'm going to see the folks who did the upholstering. The boss was good about helping me with my problem. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks again.

Hi, Jeff...
My seats are all done. All I needed was some more beef on the job. Luis, the shop owner, is a big guy... 6' 1", 230 --think sumo without the belly. Between the two of us, the backs were 'massaged' into place and screwed down. He wouldn't take money for his time, but let me pay for his lunch. Clearly, one of the good guys. Pictures attached... Thanks again for your input and interest. Kerm |

Wolf...
Thanks for the compliment. I ordered my covers from Legendary when they had their end-of-the-year sale in December. I used Auto Interiors and Design in Lake Bluff (847-573-8950). Web site: www.autointeriorsanddesign.com. As I said before, Luis is a great guy to work with. Kerm |
