Just had an interesting call from my dealer. The 2005 that I ordered and was not expecting until the end of the month has arrived. I pick it up in a couple of hours. Anyway, he tells me that the current GM employee pricing program has been extended until the end of the month, but it now excludes the GTO. But I have GMS through my employer, so no big deal. He then went on to say that GMS is no longer valid on this model either. So has anyone heard this? He could be another misinformed dealer, or he is telling the truth... Not that it matters to me, because I get mine JUST under the wire, but thought you all might like the tidbit of information. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The buzz is people like this concept not so much of the savings but because the price is what it is: no bs negotiating, no wondering if your neighbor may have gotten a better deal elsewhere, no hidden costs. People can go online and know what they'll pay for their car. GM got it right this time.

They'll probably keep adding exclusions to the point where it no longer seems like an attractive offer. Give the GM execs enough rope and they'll eventually hang themselves.

Seems a little short sighted of GM to exclude the "GTO" at this point... I'll bet we are back to rebates or financing incentives this October.

Gotta remember the number of GTOs is limited (unlike the gazillion Mustangs being produced), and the '06s aren't due until December. The '05s were selling just fine before any incentives (even with huge dealer markups), and the GMS deal wasn't really that great compared to what you could get by shopping wisely and working a deal. The '05s are hot cars, and I doubt we're going to see incentives on them like we did with the '04s.
