66 set-up in 64
When using a 66 set-up in 64 what cable & bracket fits well ? The 66 accelerator pedal assy. is different then 64 , that is my concern .

Are you talking big car or GTO/Tempest? If this picture is not what you need (also see 62 Linkage thread below) let me know. I'll try for another picture.

OK - let's try tor the Tempest/GTO pages. For some reason they don't list the bracket that bolts to the manifold for the 66 pages (67 probably the same but my book only goes through 66). Not sure how complete your parts stack is for each year but probably once the cable comes through the firewall the bracket etc. for either year may work. Not sure as the cable part numbers are not the same for 64 and 66. There was a change from 64-65 to 66 in the way the pedal pivots which may make a change in the overall cable length but the length on the engine side of the firewall may be the same.

Pfilean excellent pics. i am thinking use the 65 components as the 66 angle of pedal looks different then the 64/65 . Going to go with 65 Cable & 65 carb. bracket . thank you very much .

I have used the 65 Parts on both a 64 and a 66 Tri-power set-up with the same cable and it worked well in both cases. Even though I have the factory "Curved Linkage" kit parts I still like the 65 set-up for several reasons: safer with the slotted 65 linkage, "J-Bar" is cleaner on the carb linkage and spring position, and parts are easy to install/remove.

My original 64 Tri-Power Bracket has a different mounting pattern to the head vs a 66 GTO bracket. So on the 66 Intake I believe I used a 65 or 66 bracket. I had several in a box so not sure which one worked well now. I have played with so many combinations sometimes it is hard to remember the specific parts.
Maybe Dick B will know what works. Tom V.

I used the '64 cable and bracket, but I moved the cable back one notch into the bracket. It works fine. You can sort of see it in this picture.

After reading Ton's comments, I did change the bracket. My guess is that I used the '66, but I'm not sure.

Yes, you need to use the '65/'66 throttle cable bracket. The '64 cable will work fine.
The '66 linkage is the only one that allows adjustment to accommodate the cable position. The upside-down "U" that the cable attaches to the center carb lever can be bent forward or backwards to accommodate the cable. And, as OMT said, you can move the cable housing in the bracket to allow further adjustment. In extreme cases, the slot in the bracket can be widened.
