Numbers are way down again: 1,258 For the month, 9,487 total sold to date!

Half of the total production sold in 10 months... Me thinks there are going to be some blowout deals around Christmas to boost 4th Quarter numbers, and there will be a great selection as well!

That's great. I hope you got a smokin' deal!

I'm only pointing out that with 50% of the 04 production run still unsold at this point, the second half buyers are going to pay a lot less than the first half did.

With 9000+ sold I doubt there are 50% left on lots. I have seen much less cars in my area. And I know they were supposed to produce 18K cars but the target was cut down to 12K so there are probably less than 3K cars on lots.

Wait for december to buy. They will want to get cars off the lot before the end of the year.

Ok, guys.
What's a Pontiac "Pursuit"?
Looks like it shares the "A-Body" with the Chevy Cobalt and is built alongside it at Lordstown.
Not too many being built, is it for export?

Nevermind, it looks like it's a new model for Canada. Like the Chevy Aveo is available as the Pontiac Wave in Canada and the Pontiac Matiz in Mexico.

Sure that's great. Send us another chitbox econo car, but not the new GTO. Not saying I'd buy one, but it would be nice to at least see what all the fuss is about. We always get some weird cross breed models. Remember the turbo 3 cylinder Pontiac Firefly. Thought so.

Is this production number verified, or speculation? The limited research I have done shows no production for the Holdens. 12k production will likely change my strategy a bit, but I'm still thinking Christmas is the time. I doubt they will even sell 1000 cars this month, and certainly not in December!

Oh yes, that site is on my "favorites" list also. Still not a hard number concerning production. Inquring minds want to know.

One thing about that site that differs from this one are all the compaints from owners about problems with their cars. Over there you hear about the odd halfshaft falling off, bad shifters and so forth... All the warts. Over here, the cars are perfect, could not be improved! Here, they are worshiped, there they are beaten on and treated like something stolen... As they should be. I love it!

I've also got GM Buypower plugged in and there are plenty of cars available near my home. All colors, both transmissions. Lots! Won't be that way forever, but I'm watching.

I had a dealer call me last night wanting to know if I was going to buy. I told him that come Dec, if the rebates increase, if GM Card offers another 1000 off and dealers want under invoice to move cars, then I would be interested.

The number of cars on GM Buypower around me have gone down significantly in the last few days. So I think people thougth the rebates were going away for Nov when in fact they still remain.

Well, October sales are down almost 50% from September... I think that the "0% for 72 months" helped a whole bunch to boost Sept sales. I would expect to see that again, plus some more agressive cash back offers. GM has to be close to ready to pull the plug on the leftover inventory. Nov/Dec is not the best time to be selling stale inventory, even on good selling cars. Heck, GTO sales were down for the month, while SUV sales went up in the same period! Gas prices are not on peoples mind as much as we thought, apparently.

I think many dealers have still not seen their last truckload of GTO's show up, on the East/West coasts anyway. I know that my local dealerships are recieving inventory diverted from the slow selling areas of the Country. A potential buyer in Salina, Kansas might think about grabbing something soon, but those near the left or right coast should have a good selection into next year.

At least my color choice (silver/red) is not all that popular. It is going to take a dealer/corporation that is willing to play though. I've seen 0% for 72 once, and I'm going to have to see it again!

on this site the car is hardly ever appreciated "warts and all" or discussed in terms of making what we have to work with better. the "constructive criticism" is mostly limited to how they would have made the car different or not at all. hardly an enthusiast's site. look at the post count. people that actually own one got sick of the goat heads that don't have one trash it and went elsewhere.

PY is very much an enthusiast site. The 04 GTO is just not an enthusiast car to most PY members. At best, it's a major appliance.

The word on the street is that many are waiting for the 05 GTO's to arrive. I know a few people that like the deals on the 04, but like what the 05 offers better.

I go both ways on this issue. The 05 is not going to sticker much higher than the 04, and that will make the 50 HP well worth it. The problem is, the 50 HP is the only real improvement and you know the dealers are going to do the "market adjustment" BS again. Couple this likely high price on the 05 with the fire sale prices on the 04, and I see a delta of at least 10k. That will buy a lot of bolt-ons for the 04!

Fortunately, some people need the newest thing, so hopefully the selection of 04's will continue to be strong for a while.

yes the 05 is only 50hp higher than the current version but the ls2 seems to respond well to upgrades and makes a lot more power than the ls1 with the usual cam, headers, intake, tuning. etc. No replacement for displacement. but i would buy the '04 because its a lot cheaper

Lets all remember these words of wisdom this time next year when the lots are full of unsold 05's. Last year when everyone was waiting on the "new" 04 GTO they were going to fly off the lot.

no, you're wrong and my statement stands. not enthusiasts of the modern GTO which is what's posted about here. that's why i think that PY stands for Past Years
