Default Monkee Mobile scale model

I was at a local antique flea market today and I found this AMT model Monkee Mobile still wrapped in the plastic. $49, I had no idea it could go for that much $$.

It will go for that much if someone is willing to pay that much for it.

Have you priced a regular model kit these days?! $49 for an old desirable kit doesn't sound too bad when current models are selling at $20-30 or more.

Question

$49 for an original is about right, Did you check the date?
They re-released it 2000 but you'll know by the newer box,
However they re-re-released it once again in 2012 with the original style box art.

Here's the box art of the original MPC release and a scan of a magazine ad for the model.

I didn't know it was re-released at later dates or that it was sold under different names. I just saw it and snapped a pic. Next to it was a "Dark Shadows" car and I think there was a "Munsters" car next to that. They were all $49. I would have asked to see it but I was Christmas shopping with the kids. I also saw a Power Wheels Pontiac Solstice.

Not a bad price, but there are times and Antique flea markets that will pull the wool over your eyes.

Like all other plastic kits, prices are higher than hell. All because of the varying prices of a barrel of oil these days. But once prices go up, you seldom see them come down.
