I never had Dan Flow my HOs. He first ported them for a street-strip sft cam. And then sent them back to be set up for solid roller and some further port work.
I ran them so long a little oil pooled on top of the valves when it sat.
Right now thinking about having Paul Carter do some work to them with custom smaller stem valves based on the late Dodge Hemi valves. Sort of like he did with his 670s that flow over 280cfm.
He thinks we can get 300cfm out of them with those and a little more work. Never seen or heard of a 300cfm pair of HOs, not sure if it can be done but maybe get close.
After I run the High Ports on my trick for me shorblock I will see what can be done with the HOs again.
Don't plan on running it super hard with the High Ports. Dans last block so I want it to live.
See if I can get that 9.3 CR 10.80 deal quicker yet.
The old school stuff is fun.
Paul K, have you ever messed around with the smaller stem valves like PC has ?

Paul I think the Street strip IV heads numbers are pretty close to what mine flowed. E/I ratio is something to look at-why most of the SS guys use a singel pattern.

We use them occasionally. We're working on a pair of 614's that will use 2.14 valves with 8mm stem.

Hi Skip, I agree the exhaust can out work the intakes on the round port heads.... The next cam up that was designed to be used with these heads was 280/280 106 LSA.

Paul,
I do like the tight LSA, but how hard is it to find a grinder that has cores that will go 106?

Pre-Covid no issue at all. A similar grind could be put on a 104. After Covid cores have been a problem.

My V heads were done by Butch Elkins for steohens Pontiac , way back in 71 or 72 I’d love to know what they flow but it’s together right now .
Some day maybe I’ll flow them
And see

Revs so nice , quick and smooth it’s like a well built small block Chevy revs .

Yes had the 660s on it back in 1970 also when Stephens got it from the factory to race in pro stock. Developmental factory intake . Was all part of an article in Jan 72 rodder and super stock magazine . That article triggered GM and they later kicked Stephen Pontiac out of the racing program and took Their aluminum RAV block among other parts. The driver and mechanic quit the dealership over it and never went back. Was a real **** show. They had Been involved w Tom Nell and to some extend herb Adams, Eckstrom was even flown out to the factory to meet w them and see all the engineering goodies available. The RAV engine was in my (69RAIV car) car only to tune it , but was raced in the 70 through 73 body once the car arrived . After the car arrived (likely after first race season) parts of it were sent to be an acid dipped like the full front subframe and a. Arms etc .

The whole thing is a
Little blurry as to how things happened because it’s been so long but some details I got from Bill and Tom the drivers back in the early 90s and wrote them down. .but a lot of it I didn’t know about to ask until later. I get little bits and pieces from people involved w the cars . Then I ask bill and Tom. Since neither has spoken to each-other since then,, I know if they give the same answer it’s likely spot on accurate. But sometimes I need to have that kernel of information to ask about to jog their memories . Like the tach changed at one point in the photos I have , bill said it had a light in it. I didn’t think much of it but later realized it was a shift light tach that was supposed to go on the pro car , but that had a glass nose so the tach went on my car ( I dint have it anymore though sadly.

They don’t (to this day) think these cars RAII RAIV and RAV are all that special because guys they raced with had serious factory cars (ford mopar altered cars etc. ). Even though they do both agree all three cars were ordered light weight ,
Stephen Pontiac sold RAV engines over the parts counter so even that didn’t seem that special. I have an advertising flyer from Stephen Pontiac that says buy your 500HP RAV engine ! W contact info for the parts dept.

Here’s the intake I’m sure you guys are familiar with it there’s a few others out there too. bOP has one w 660s on it. Arnie had one in his 68 boss bird pro stocker ( very short lived) but he ran it with the larger single 4 bbl style carbs on it w spacers that moved the carbs over to fit.
As far as I know they all used 2 inch spacers (not on mine now) but his were unique in that they moved the carbs out front to back . Idk if he made them or engineering supplied them like w Stephens or what . I do know they had roller rockers on them even back then gold style crane .idk if they were big block Chevy or if they were made for the V or what. I know bill was pretty proud his RAV ran quite a bit quicker than arnies because he considered arnie to be very knowledgeable and respected him .but none of them ran quick enough to compete w the hemis and the 427 Camaros . Eckstrom was pretty much booked into match racing programs ti give the crowd a Pontiac to cheer for and if he got lucky he went a few rounds. He was very good on the tree and could usually be ahead too
Top of second gear then the hemis would pull away . There’s a good video of this out there . Him against Don Carlton the quickest pro stocker in 71 and bill gets out ahead of him and hangs w him til top of second gear the the hemi just walks away . I asked bill about it and he said he scattered the bottom end on that run trying to beat him.

Here are some new numbers from one of my local buddies. Planning on using them on a 455 with dish for a '70 Firebird street car as soon as Butler gets to pistons in.
Close to what I think mine are. I flowed these in their virgin stock form with RAIV valves and picked up flow with a "flat" D port intake. Not sure they swapped them in here.
